Man has range in yard. Bushkill Twp. officials to revisit creating ordinance regulating recreational shooting.
The arrival of police officers at the Bushkill Township house was hardly a surprise. Nearly every time Alan Birtchet or his sons have fired guns in their backyard practice range since moving in a year ago, neighbors have called police, and Saturday was no exception.

Bushkill Township is in Pike County - - not in the Lehigh Valley, but in the Delaware Valley. Bushkill borders NJ.
I live just up the road a piece - - fortunately not in Bushkill Township.

It will give a satellite photo of both Stonegate Road and Farmhouse Lane. The satellite definition is not real good, but it seems to be pretty rural.

After turning down their backyard stereo, the neighbors further elabarated that good neighbors have dogs that bark, pound the ground with basketballs, and honk their horns whenever they approach their house. These gun nuts are bad apples.

Agreed. When I was 9 years old (1959), my Dad took me to the trap range. No one wore hearing protection back then. I'm not saying it was wise, but back then, no one thought about it. For the last 20+ years, I always wear hearing protection.
As for neighbors firing weapons, as long as they know what they're doing, I have no problem with the "noise," actually I like it, as long as it is at reasonable hours. I love it when the USAF F-15s occasionally does practice runs over our house. Music to my ears. What bothers me is when I hear them, by the time I look up they're out of sight (sigh).

When you hear gunshots in cities, people are being shot. That's a little different from paper-punching. City slickers are Clymers. I casually mentioned to a neighborhood gathering that I had a CCW permit, and you would not believe how many people were in shock and awe. So even a piece of paper scares these anti-gun moonbats.
True, but the bullets would still be whizzing. They need to have diapers on the bullets too.

I don't know, I used to live in a condo development (townhouse style). There was a couple that had one of those basketball hoops that can be wheeled around. This little old lady who lived on the other side of the complex said that the ball being dribbled and hitting the backboard was causing her heart to go out of rythem, never mind that my neighbor would have their back door open (facing where the hoop would be) and they never noticed it. The couple were forced to get rid of the hoop, they moved.
Imagine what would have happened to that poor lady if they had been shooting guns. /sarc
An old lady with a bad heart might have problems with unexpected or irregular pounding sounds.
However, we can objectively prove the safe noise distance from any noise source if we know what the dB level is at the source.
Note to self: When I eventually 'settle down', be sure to buy at least 100 acres. Hopefully THAT will be plenty big enough that I can shoot on my own land without some liberal carpet-bagging asshat calling the cops.

I have an small unfinished area in my basement (more like a crawl space) that I use as a range when one particular in-law visits. Drives him apoplectic, he thinks I am a "dangerous savage." Makes his annual visit almost tolerable but the wife always stops my fun.
