Did the pressures of being a black conservative take a toll on the former Bush aide?
I WAS SHOCKED by the news about Claude A. Allen, the black former White House staffer whose rising star officially flamed out after he was arrested on charges of felony theft last week.
Not shocked that he got arrested so many Republicans are being handcuffed these days for scams of one kind or another that it's hard to keep the names and charges straight. What shocked me was how penny ante his alleged scam was, how unbefitting a man of Allen's stature and lofty ideals rooted in the requisite conservative principles of God, fiscal prudence and anti-affirmative action activism above all else.
Getting a reported few thousand dollars worth of refunds fraudulently at small-ticket stores such as Target and Hecht's is downright anticlimactic, especially for a black man who had enough personal wealth and White House in-crowd connections to swing something much bigger real estate fraud, dummy offshore companies. The possibilities were endless.

You've gotta read this...
Guess she hasn't seen Ann Coulter's piece on Allen.
And, has he been convicted already? This sweet thing doesn't seem to have any doubts about his guilt. Is that because of who he is? I mean, you look at a man like this -- if you know what I mean -- and you hear he's been accused of a crime, then you just naturally say "He's guilty! Those people are always committing crimes!" Because -- you know what I'm talking about here -- he's Republican.
I found the tone of this article so obnoxious, I couldn't get 1/2 way thru it.
What a vile article.
What a disgusting article. The animosity in this guy's tone is appalling.
The left just can't let go of the color issue. Whether or not Claude Allen was black or not has nothing to do with what he is accused of.
Erin Aubrey Kaplan sounds like a typical liberal racist to me.
Our local free press, originally the Richmond Afro-American, is all over this story - banner headline at the top of Page 1, subtitle "GOP darling nabbed". Of course, if he was a lib, there would be nary a peep from them. *sigh*
Yep, according to this authorette only "good" black people are liberals, the rest are unappreciative house (negroes).
He's a black REPUBLICAN, which means it's OK for the media to be racist, and use the B-word.....
Her delight in a black conservative being brought down is palpable. Bet you anything she believes she's objective.
BTW,
I read that Claude Allen has an evil twin. Seriously, Allen has a twin brother who has always been in trouble with the law and Clause has always bailed him out of the trouble. Some theories floating out there are that he is taking the fall for his brother. Who know. Sad story any which way.
Yes, that was a great column.
Former columnist (film reviewer?) for the L.A. Weekly, a leftist porn rag available at all the lib hangouts. Always "reviewed" films on a race (pro-black) basis. Very bitter, probably into "reparations now" and all that crapola.
Such as?
Actually, I think that they do get as much (or as little depending on how you look at it).
Heard that too. Where is it in print?
