David Gregory Going Nuts at WH Briefing

Everyone's favorite rabid Bush-hater is ripping into McClellan at a WH briefing on today's action in Iraq. Gregory is all over McClellan with charges that Bush has authorized this "bloody attack" to raise his poll numbers. Helen Thomas has just chimed in to say that Bush is a war criminal in his "unauthorized attack in Iraq" (unauthorized by the UN abd MSM). That "preemptive war is unacceptable." As McClellan replies Thomas bores ahead. Quite a sight. Reporters are now challenging McClellan on the US' right to defend itself. The masks are sure off the Dinosaur Press, folks.

1. Cheney or 2. Rumsfield or 3. Rice. It would be random. Have a good day.

I'm not trying to be a troll, but I just don't see how and why we have someone this soft trying to represent our U.S. administration. The media will not let up and they're looking for any excuse to rip the President a new one.

Like liberty2004 said, we need someone who will be able to stand up to them, the way Rumsfield does.

I've complained many times about how soft the spokesmen for the White House have been, but I've never called them "lying idiots". That, particularly the part about "lying" is a sign of someone trying to sneak in a DU talking point. As far as I know, he has not lied about anything, and when you were asked to back that up, you declined.

Same here...that's why I wondered if there was some secret "strategery." I figured if I saw how unsuited McClellen was, surely Rove and Bush could see it.

McClellen needs to be replaced by someone who is not just "a little better" but by someone who is actually as acerbic as the "press" crowd...someone who would give them butterflies in their stomachs each time there was a conference.

Someone who would demand intellectual honesty from the press and hold them accountable for getting it right.

Someone who would hold honest and respectful dialog with members of the press when members of the press behaved with honesty and respect toward the administration and toward the American people.

You are in denial, big time. He is a weak link and is a big part of why the White House PR machine is stuck in a huge rut. No one is questioning his loyalty or if he is a nice guy or not. We are questioning his job performance right now and some of us thought he was weak when he took the job.

Please look at him at some of these press conferences. He has a "Deer in the Headlights look" half of the time.

The White House press corp pounds him everyday with nonsense because they know they can get by with it because no one will call them on it as they throw it. It's just like dealing with children. If a parent gives them an inch, they will take a whole mile and if they are not corrected , then the kids will run the show. That is exactly what has happened with the White House press corp. Someone needs to go in there and tell all of them they are "Are stuck on stupid" to quote the General in charge on the Katrina operation.

Exactly. And you cannot approve of how Rumsfeld handles a press conference, if you approve of the way McClellan handles one. The two are mutually exclusive.
I'm sure McClellan is a nice fellow. No reason to think otherwise. But he's doing damage as the President's press secretary.

Yeah, I was just teasing you a bit. I know you don't loathe him. I just want to see something BIG happen in McClellen's position. I want someone else "running the room," not Gregory and/or Thomas.

Gregory and Thomas are part of the fog. We get nothing useful from them and they have become caricatures of themselves.

That was incredible. Isn't a press conference where the press asks questions?! These two were an embarrassment to our country. Honestly, they looked like terrorist's spokespeople. I've learned what to expect and discern what the press puts out, but this was absolutely disgusting. I was hoping McClellan would take his shoes off and smack both of them with them.
