AUSTIN, Texas (Creators Syndicate) -- President Bush has once more undertaken to explain to us "Why We Fight," which is also the title of an excellent new documentary on Iraq. According to the president, "Our goal in Iraq is victory." I personally did not find that a helpful clarification.
According to the president, we are doomed to stay in Iraq until we "leave behind a democracy that can govern itself, sustain itself and defend itself." That's not exactly getting closer every day. But, the Prez sez, "A free Iraq in the heart of the Middle East will make the American people more secure for generations to come."
So far, no good. After three years, tens of thousands of lives and $200 billion, we have achieved chaos. As Rep. John Murtha put it, "The only people who want us in Iraq are Iran and al Qaeda." Since the revisionist myth that we went to war to promote democracy keeps seeping into rational discussion, it is worth reminding ourselves that there never were any weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

And you post this loser without a barf alert why?
Hey Molly -
New information is coming out that Saddam didn't just work with Al Qaeda but with the Taliban also!
Let's all call Ken Mehlman and encourage him to have the RNC make a commercial about these tapes and the information contained in them. If he doesn't understand the importance of this PR, he should be fired.

Molly Ivans = barf alert
Isn't that leftist slug dead yet?
Twisted face and twisted mind.
My bad.
We must show the Islamic facists that we have more patience than they have.
Naw NC, my bad. Did not know the protocol. Guess I should of known Molly Socialist mere name was more then enough of a barf alert
It is worth reminding us, Ms. Ivins, that they were found, here and there, in small amounts. The stockpiles weren't found, but traces and small amounts were. Guess you missed those newspaper articles.
Should we also remind you that American troops arrived in Iraq OVER A YEAR after war was declared. Should you be reminded, Ms. Ivins, that that leaves a lot of time to MOVE AND HIDE things? Is it possible that in over 12 months the stuff was relocated?
"The only people who want us in Iraq are Iran and al Qaeda."
Public opinion polls in Iraq show the exact opposite
"Since the revisionist myth that we went to war to promote democracy keeps seeping into rational discussion"
Apparently our gal Molly has forgotten the name "Operation Iraqi Freedom".
It must be fun to live in a cocoon where you make up your own facts.
Freeper jveritas has done a translation of one of the Saddam tapes. We've long known about Saddam's decade's long relationship with Al Qaeda. What wasn't generally known was that Saddam sent his intelligence officials to meet with the Taliban in Afghanistan.
This freeper's translation is one of several articles I've seen in the last few days about this matter.
