Oh, I was just kidding about them being with Cheney, cuz the media is always talking about him being at an undisclosed location.

But as to what's going on, I imagine the Parliament came in and got briefed as to what was about to take place, and then told to get underground to avoid reprisals by the enemy. It's not healthy to be a Member of Parliament in Iraq at the best of times, very unhealthy right now.

Found this in a article----

The operation, residents said, appeared to be concentrated near four villages - Jillam, Mamlaha, Banat Hassan and Bukaddou - about 20 miles north of Samarra. The villages are near the highway leading from Samarra to the city of Adwar.

They'll bring their own supplies!

I'll have to check with Miss Manners to see if this is acceptable. ;O)

your historical understanding of Korea and Truman is really, really weak. You might want to go read about why a guy name Douglas MacArthur got fired by Truman... We have done this before.

Re: Truman - I was thinking more about ending WWII.

You're right about Korea, however (and Viet Nam) - we have done this before. Problem was, those engagements were purposely limited to avoid further (potentially nuclear) conflicts with China/USSR.

However, the question at hand is why the press was not contained, not the Iraq war strategy.

We need to have one of these a week. After the initial reporting, I surfed on to other topics, which is probably what other freepers did. What does this mean? We are entering a "israeli" mentality, which is we are no longer shocked by military actions by our government. This means our government could do more of this.

but if you put some panties on someone's head and photograph it, beware, because your government might fall.

Good evening.
"The only Army division that is paratroop is the 82nd Airborne Div."

Paratroopers don't have to be with the 82nd. They could be Rangers or SF. Odds are that Bret was calling them that because the 101st used to be a paratroop division.

Of course it's been a while since anyone got to makes a combat blast and I imagine seeing Death From Above for real would probably scare the insurrectos spitless.

How right you are. I sent an e-mail to the white house today praising Bush on the assault but I also told him the American people will stand behind him if he is strong and defiant and he keeps on pushing forward. Let's see what he does from here.

Good afternoon.
"173 jumped into Northern Iraq"

Yes it did, didn't it. I had forgotten. That makes two combat jumps for the Herd, Junction City and Iraqi Freedom. Didn't the 503rd also jump onto Corregidor?

Don't you just know those boys were flying high.

By "no casualties on either side," could he mean no American or Iraqi army casualties?

Let us prayerfully hope GWB does mind your suggestions. Amerians want to see positive results. He must show in simple terms where the masses who do not follow things, how we are making progress, and emphasizing a new Iraqi Government that represents all of Iraqi is in the development at this juncture in time. He has to make it clear to the masses, all the work our military has done thus far, is actuall now bearing much fruit. In short, he must short circuit the negative press reports.
