Either there will be a civil war or there will not be a civil war.

The media desperately wants one, but the do not have the power to cause it, even if they are trying to make Americans believe that it is already happening.

But, if the Iraquis are fighting each other and the US troops leave, then there is a civil war. Until US troops leave, it will not happen.

Of course, the GOP might lose control of Congress if the troops don't leave before 2008.

Tough situation if you are W.

"The media desperately wants one . . "

"The media" or "The MSM" are tossed around like everyone knows what they mean. I don't.

Few Iraqis, however, share Bush's view that the crisis has been averted.

How many Iraqis did this guy interview to determine that just a few think the "crisis" has been averted? Something for you to think about the next time you decide to wet your pajamas.

I think it depends on where you live. Perhaps this woman lives in Sadar City.

What you have over there is not civil war, but gang warfare. It's more like the Crips and the Bloods rather than all out civil war.

None so blind...

None so blind as someone who's been in Iraq for over two years? And someone who is posting this reply from beautiful, downtown Baghdad?

Hey, if you'd rather eat what the media spoonfeeds you, knock yourself out.

(Pssst....guys, I think we have another "skewed vision"-ist here. LOL)

Are you aware that Allegra is IN Iraq right now? She works there, she knows the people, she interacts with them each day.

Either there will be a civil war or there will not be a civil war.

Profound.

I call it as I see it.

And I see it from a 40-yardline seat.

Do you get C-SPAN? I'd love to get your reaction to Peters' appearance on WJ. He comes up in 1+20.

Unfortunately, we don't get C-SPAN. I wish we did, because I'd like to see it, too. I've read a couple of his reports and we're on the same page.

And I think there are a couple on this thread who may be enlightened by what he as to say. ;-)

beautiful, downtown Baghdad is a far cry from the slums of Sadr City where hundreds of bodies have been found over the past weeks and where Shia are hanging Sunnis from lampposts.

"looks like all hell is about to break loose over there."

Or not. This is a report from a newspaper with an agenda. It has the same credibility with me as the polls showing that Bush was going to lose in 2004.

And you believe this, why? (But make sure your explanation of why takes into account the actions of President Kerry, who defeated Bush in 2004 according to media predictions.)

Will Y2K and all that Millenium stuff show up before the Iraqi civil war starts? I'd like to be able to plan my weekend.
