FRESNO, Calif. - Sirhan Sirhan, who shot Robert F. Kennedy to death in 1968, was denied parole Wednesday for the 13th time since his conviction.
Sirhan is "very hostile. He hates Americans. ... He continues to pose a risk to public safety," said state Board of Parole Hearings spokesman Tip Kindel.
Sirhan did not attend the hearing at Corcoran State Prison or appoint a lawyer to represent him. His longtime attorney died last year after numerous failed attempts to get his client a new trial.
Sirhan also did not appear at his last hearing in 2003. Periodical hearings are guaranteed by law. Sirhan's next parole hearing will be in 2011.
Kennedy was shot in the narrow pantry of Los Angeles' Ambassador Hotel on June 5, 1968, soon after the New York senator claimed victory in the California presidential primary.
Sirhan was wrestled to the ground with the gun in his hand.
Prosecutors at Sirhan's trial said the Palestinian immigrant targeted Kennedy because of his pledge to sell fighter jets to Israel.
Sirhan blurted out in court that he killed the senator "premeditatedly with 20 years of malice aforethought," but later insisted he did not remember the incident.
Damn...that guy is still alive???
Considering Steven Spielberg's recent history, do you think he will make a movie praising Sirhan?
IMO Sirhan Sirhan started the current Islamic jihad against America now.
The Libs ain't so damn lib. about crime/punishment when it comes to this guy, are they?
Yeah, he's only 60 or so.
He does another five before his next hearing.
Lynn "Buck" Compton served as the lead prosecutor in Sirhan Sirhan's trial for the murder of Robert F. Kennedy. During World War II, Compton won a Silver Star while serving as a Second Lieutenant commanding the 2nd platoon of "Easy Company" in the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, part of the 101st Airborne Division
Sirhan was born to Palestinian parents in Jerusalem. Though he is commonly thought to have been a Muslim, he was raised a Christian. However, in his adult years he frequently changed his religious views, to Baptist, Seventh-day Adventist, and Rosicrucianism.
This is from Wikipedia.
Sirhan was almost paroled in the early 80s but the politicians intervened to stop it. His lawyers correctly argued that he had already served more time than most murderers. Nobody disputed that but said this was different because he killed a politician. I thought it was an awful argument.
This is true. Sirhan is not a Muslim.
However, it's getting late tonight, so if anyone would be interested in reading themselves to sleep with some conspiracy theories, they could start with CourtTV's account of the RFK assasination. Of course nobody can deny that Sirhan was shooting from close range at RFK that night, but some people are calling for a possible 2nd gunman. There's "the woman in the polka dot dress", the angle of the fall etc..... And if you really want to see plots within plots, Aristotle Onassis was named the financier behind the RFK assasination in Peter Evans best-selling 2004 book, "Nemesis, The True Story".
Notice: before any Dudley Do-right types start flaming away, understand that I personally go with Ockham's Razor, that is that the simpliest solution is usually the right one: Sirhan worked alone.

That is no way to earn your tin-foil hat.
I was just going to say that the only thing that's depriving the coutry of an RFK assassination conspiracy industry is the fact that Sirhan's still alive and here you go and ruin it.
