Ms.Behavin

Posted on 03/15/2006 5:59:14 PM PST by StarCMC

What is the origin of your screen name?

Come tell us your story....

How'd ya choose your screen name?
A situation in your life?
Part of a song?
Your Military service?

For me, it was three times I came across "Misbehavin"
that decided it for me!
I bought a blouse that had that on the tag...
Then my MIL gave me a book about a cat called Ms.Behavin..
Then I heard the song "Ain't Misbehavin!"

So there ya have it!
Have fun!
Please, no politics in The Canteen..
We want our troops to rest, relax and relate!

Now tell us YOUR story!!

My grandaughter Kaitlyn couldn't pronounce "Grampa" when she was litle and when she tried it came out "Pompah".

She's 11 now and it's still Pompah.

I loved that series.

I think Forrest Sawyer was the narrator.

I'm usually not a fan of his, but I thought he did a pretty good job there.

For some reason, the actor portraying Benjamin Rush really stood out.

Hello All; I gave myself my screen name due to my 10 years,7 months,4 days, of service in the MARINE CORPS. I am medically retired Sgt, and my last name is Suchman thus sgtsman1. The tmsuchman is a combonation of my wife's name [Terry} and me [Mike] thus tmsuchman.

Ok, I'll play...

Those that know I served in The Marine Corps usually think it has something to do with Sonar, or the Navy. NOPE, not even close.

I have had this nick since I was about 10 or eleven years old.

I'm 41 now.

It is my last name spelled backwards and I am the youngest in my family of Five Boys, hence the 5.

Hence.

Joe Ranos = Sonar5

See, wasn't that simple enough......

Fintan was the first person to land on Ireland before the flood.  His wives and children are drowned when the flood arrives but he survives in the form of a salmon, he remains in this shape for many years and then he turns into an eagle and then a hawk then he turns back to human form again and becomes a great advisor to the peoples of Ireland being known as Fintan the Wise.

In this capacity he gives advice to the Fir Bolg king Eochaid Mac Eirc when the Tuatha Dé Danann invade and even joins in the fight at the First battle of Moytura.  He lives on into the time of Cúchulainn, and all the great heroes such as Fionn and Oisín.   He is the repository of all knowledge of Ireland and all history along with a magical hawk who was born at the same time as him.  They meet up at the end of their lives and recount their stories to each other.  They decide to leave the mortal realm together sometime in the fifth century after the invasion of the christians to Ireland which I think is rather fitting.

The reason why he has so many wives is explained by the fact that he and two other males were shipwrecked on the shores of Ireland with fifty women and so they share the women between themselves.

More info here...

So there.

OH.

MY.

GOD.

This quote from your page is the greatest thing I've come across in a long time:

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

. .....John Stuart Mill

Now if I send that to a few liberal friends and family members of mine, they likely will never speak to me again..........

I'm big into boating and music. My family and I spend all our time on our houseboat (which is blue) during the summer. When we were trying to come up with a name for it I naturally looked to music.

There is an old Fats Domino song called Blue Monday, which was remade by Bob Seger for the movie Roadhouse. Well since the boat is blue, and we are depressed to leave the boat and go back to work on Monday, Blue Monday was an obvious choice for the boat and BlueMondaySkipper became my Freeper name.

In a former life, I was a General in the American war for Independence

Seriously though, I used to be shotokan, but Horatio Gates, without getting into too much detail, was the commander of the victorious Continental Army forces over the British at the balle of Saratoga in October 1777. I love reading about American Revolution and that battle was my favorite. Gates was also mentioned a few times in writings of my ancestors on my mom's side of the family tree. Oddly my mom's kin were all Tories
