FReeper Canteen ~ What's The Origin Of Your Screenname? ~ March 16, 2006

What is the origin of your screen name? Come tell us your story.... How'd ya choose your screen name? A situation in your life? Part of a song? Your Military service?
For me, it was three times I came across "Misbehavin" that decided it for me! I bought a blouse that had that on the tag... Then my MIL gave me a book about a cat called Ms.Behavin.. Then I heard the song "Ain't Misbehavin!"
So there ya have it! Have fun! Please, no politics in The Canteen.. We want our troops to rest, relax and relate!
Now tell us YOUR story!! |

On February 3, 2006, Virginia Puller, the widow of Chesty Puller, died at the family home in Saluda, Virginia. Mrs. Puller was very, very elderly. Her husband, Lt. Gen. Lewis B. "Chesty" Puller earned 5 Navy crosses and spent 37 years in the Corps. He died at the age of 73 in 1971.

Xena + acolyte = Xenalyte, although some people think of it as "Xena-lite," which although delightful is strictly speaking untrue.

I was on some kind of thread about Star Trek...not on Free Republic, there was no Free Republic then; it was something called Whitewater.
I think this was a chat room (I haven't been to one in years, but they were big way back when.) Anyway, I was using a name I thought was 'spacey' ... I thought it was the name of a distant star or something.
So when Jim opened Free Republic for registration and changed the name, I signed on at once and, unfortunately, I kept the name -- Altura.
I've regretted it so many times. I couda been clever...I coulda been a contender.
Oh, well.

My screennames history is an interesting one
I started out as flynhghr2001 which ment "flying higher" as reference to me wanting to be a pilot and "2001" as the year i chose that screenname (ive used that at yahoo since 2001 i chose that since i couldn't think of anything else for a screen name.
I chose armyboy as a screenname when I was deployed to Iraq in 2003-2004 since i was in the Army National Guard
I chose Armyman when I got back from deployment
Upon joining the Navy Reserve I became Cool Multiservice Soldier
When I transfeed to the Army (active duty) and because of people saying my name was too long I became CMS
