Yes, I'm delusional.
I'm SO delusional that I quoted events that happened. Such as Delay stating the budget was as tight as it could get. Such as Pence and conservatives reacting to that. Such as Delay apologizing, stating he had gone astray. Such as shortly thereafter a cut in the rate of growth went forward. Which may seem like nothing to YOU, but considering the path they had been on for years, it showed a distinct change in course.
I'm so delusional that I recognize Delay didn't see conservatives as the enemy. I'm so delusional that he was open to changing his previous stance when confronted by Pence and his group. Something FEW politicians will willingly do. I'm so delusional that I recognize he got CONSERVATIVE actions through as well. I'm so delusional that events currently on the ground do not portend the same result with the new guy in charge.
No, I'm not delusional. Neither am I blinded to the agenda of those that claim to know the best coarse to enact conservatism in the Legislative bodies, and yet wind up with Frist and this new guy as your standard bearers.
That's what happens when you knife people in the back for the wrong reasons.
If conservatives want respect, if you want change? You don't go about it by dumping leaders under MSM cloaks of scandel. Lott wasn't a racist. Delay is not dirty. Yet conservatives, instead of calling for a debate on ideals and principles and deciding if these two could best lead them to these goals? They decided to grant the MSM's portrait as accurate and got rid of these two through underhanded means.
I repeat: Conservatives damn well deserve what they get from this new guy. Their tactics were deplorable, and I've no sympathy.
Get rid of him as soon as possible.
Good, I'm glad we agree.
Yes, DeLay reversed course, after he realized that he'd uttered one of the most ridiculous statements in the history of American statesmanship. The turnabout (waffle? flip-flop?) was rare, I agree, but the fact that he made the statements speaks volumes in itself.
Further, you cannot refute the despicable increase in spending that happened under the "hammer." You're right: Lott wasn't racist, he just said some really stupid things in front of the camera; and whether DeLay was crooked will be borne out, but he also did some really stupid things to put the cloud over himself. And neither you nor I knifed him in the back, his actions prompted his colleagues to do it to him.
Beware the ides of March, huh?
Jeff Flake, Franks, JD Hayworth AND JOHN SHADEGG (THE MAN WHO SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN BOEHMER"S JOB) ALL VOTED NO - I guess 4 good guys offset that other one over in the senate (NOT Jon Kyl = he's good too)...MCLAME
Boehner is another shill for K Street lobbyists. He's another big government Republican.
Am noticing the absence of my Rep, Phil Gingrey, on this list. This surprises me.
Um, wouldn't Delay have done the exact same thing? The guy wasn't exactly known for his fiscal discipline. Didn't he say that the Federal Budget was already as lean as it could get?
What? Peter King and Duncan Hunter voted yes?
No surprise.
Last week they pretended to be big shots, but it was the MSM that made it easy for them. There's no way they will ever make the hard votes such this -- a vote against spending.

I thought for sure you were going to say Kolbe.
"Am noticing the absence of my Rep, Phil Gingrey, on this list. This surprises me."
Same with mine, Tom Price. He has really pleasently surprised me on illegal immigration (which is why he'll get my vote this November,) but he is a big flop on spending it seems. I guess I can take pride in my primary vote for Robert Lamutt.
Please call or write Gingrey!

Republicans in Disarray... Spring a Boehner
"Hensarling also wanted House Appropriations Chairman Jerry Lewis (R.-Calif.) to split the two requests: $67.6 billion for funding the troops and $19.1 billion for hurricane recovery. But Lewis chose to combine them, leaving Republicans few options to strip what they view as wasteful spending included in the hurricane recovery bill."
This is one of the most used dodges by our congress critters, both Repubs and Dims: roll everything into a massive omnibus bill with at least one popular provision that you "just can't vote against" in order to enact all the addional lard placed in the bill that might get voted down if it stood on its own for an up or down vote. Frist and Hastert have made no efforts to change this way of doing business because that's the way they want it.
Dims = big spenders
Repubs = bigger spenders (at least when they also have the support of a big-spending Repub president)
Tancredo/Pence for Pres/VP.
"Tancredo does not have a shot in Hades of being elected President"
Certainly the party insiders would try to gut him, but they would try to do the same to Pence since he's not a get-along/go-along type either. Whether we get a real conservative presidential candidate depends upon the grass roots rejecting the favorite that will be pushed by the party insiders (like in 2000). I would enthusiastically support either Tancredo or Pence, but think Tancredo appears to be more sound on immigration. Has Pence said that he could win the nomination if he sought it?
