Can a devout Muslim be an American patriot and a loyal citizen?
Consider this:
Theologically, no. Because his allegiance is to Allah, the moon god of Arabia.
Scripturally, no. Because his allegiance is to the five pillars of Islam and the Quran (Koran).
Geographically, no. Because his allegiance is to Mecca, to which he turns in prayer five times a day.
Socially, no. Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews.
Politically, no. Because he must submit to the mullah (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and destruction of America, the great Satan.
Domestically, no, because he is instructed to marry four women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34).
Religiously, no. Because no other religion is accepted by his Allah except Islam (Quran, 2:256)
Intellectually, no, because he cannot accept the American Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be corrupt.
Philosophically, no, because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran do not allow freedom of religion and expression. Democracy and Islam cannot co - exist. Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or autocratic.
Spiritually, no, because when we declare "one nation under God," the Christian's God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as our heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in the Quran's 99 excellent names.
Therefore after much study and deliberation....perhaps we should be very suspicious of ALL MUSLIMS in this country. They obviously cannot be both good Muslims and good Americans. Call it what you wish...it's still the truth. If you find yourself intellectually in agreement with the above, perhaps you will share this with your friends. The more who understand this, the better it will be for our country.
Ultimately, these are all legitimate complaints and issues to raise concerning Islam. But they have almost nothing to do with the point of this thread, which concerns whether Muslims can be good patriotic Americans.
This is the oath of allegiance for citizenship for the United States:
"I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God."
You get back to the Is God the same as Allah question.
....and so it goes.
Half right. A committed Christian renders to God the things that are God's, and to Caesar the things that are the Caesar's. A Christian can be in the world and not be of the world.
A committed Christian also allow others their beliefs consistent with full civil rights. A committed Muslim in an Islamic country has a real problem with that.
Individual Muslims might be fine, friendly, patriotic people and good neighbors. However, there is no moral equivalence between Islam and Christianity in terms of the freedoms people enjoy in countries dominated by each belief system. If we have learned nothing since 9/11, we have learned that.
You can never really know if any person is a sociopath just waiting to kill tens, hundreds, or thousands of "infidels". How do you know that any person, regardless of their religion, is not a mass murderer? Do you really think the BTK killer was attending a mosque instead of a church? Remember, they found the damning evidence that caught him on his church's computer. How do you really know that somebody in your own church isn't the next BTK killer? Do you think one needs to be a Muslim to be a liar?
Proper spelling and context wins points. This post exhibits neither.
Khalig Shake Mohammad,
I repeat myself with regard to spelling and context.
The ungrateful French are lucky they are not speaking German or English right now.
Die Franzosen sprechen sehr korrekte deutsche Sprache. Dieses ist Tatsache. And English is spoken at all air traffic control, especially Paris.
And so should respect, and honor, and dignity, and integrity.
Theory and reality. In theory, these precepts are honorable. In fact, reciprocity of these principles does not exist.
Can a devout Muslim be an American patriot and a loyal citizen?
I don't know, why don't you ask Cpl. Mohammed N. Rahman USMC.

Maybe not the stupidest thing I've read today, but I'd put it in the top ten.
If Christianity headed in a different way...so can Islam.
Why did Christianity head in a different way?
How could Islam do the same?
I realize it is a purely academic question because, unless you were a Muslim, you would not be allowed to even if you wanted to.
Well then obviously he wasn't a REAL Muslim.
/sarcasm
Very good question. Do you have an answer?

You are so dead wrong it borders on racism, which I consider the domain of intellectually challenged individuals. At best you may just be ignorant. For that I hope.
To say that one's belief in a deity nessecarily supersedes their nationism or clouds their mind to basic freedoms is myopic. The overwhelming majority of Muslims practice their faith with the understanding that others do not believe the same way. If they are first or second generation Americans then they understand the importance of freedom better than most of us that grew up with out a secret police dragging our family members out in the middle of the night.
I hate radical islam. I think there are certain people in this world that should be ripped from their hiding holes and have their nervous system shut down. At this point they have become the most powerful and most radical voice of islam.
Islam is about 1300 years old. When the Catholic church was 1300 years old it had hijacked control of Dark Ages europe. It repressed science and executed the infidels as it pleased. Would it be just to have wiped out Christianity in Europe at that point because a radical core controled actions on behalf of millions?
P.S. Not even putting on the flame vest..
Which one?

Check your history books. Notice that there communities of Christians, Jews, and even Zoroastrians in Egypt, Iraq, Iran, and elsewhere in the Muslim worlds for centuries that are only being exterminated or pushed out in the past century or two. Muslims managed to rule large hunks of India without killing all the Hindus. Heck those Buddhist statues in Afghanistan stood for centuries until the nutty Taliban blew them up. Why? Because Islam was not always as militant or murderous as parts of it are right now. Wahabbism is a big part of the problem. Lebanon, a country of both Christian and Muslim, was considered the Rivera of the Middle East before the anti-Israel militants moved in and destroyed the country. Muslims can be good neighbors, as many Muslims in the US, UK, and elsewhere who have no interest in Sharia or terrorism show.
This doesn't mean that individual Muslims can't be good people, good neighbors, or good soldiers, but it does mean you better hope they stay in the minority because everywhere they have gained a majority they have snuffed out individual freedoms and denied others equal treatment under the law.
It's all one way: Muslims to the west, not the other way round. There's a reason for this. We ignore it at our peril.
No need to don the asbestos suit. One the racism card is played, the game is called. Thanks for playing, and the consolation gifts are complimentary.
