"Mullah Golpayegani who wrote the edict indicated: "The use of fireworks, sparklers and fire crackers which will lead to fun, conviviality and frolic is 'haraam' and any further references to all Persian traditions and culture existing before Islam is directly anti-Islamic and immoral.""
These people could do with a good dose of seperation of church and state.

Actually, the merger of church and state would be a tremendous improvement for them. What they need is a separation of mosque and state.

Amazingly the unarmed populace retaliated and forbidden to use fireworks or even sparklers to celebrate, turned to making Molotov cocktails and burning regime official vehicles and often forcibly resisted their attackers.
When fun is outlawed, only outlaws will have fun!
Fun? Haraam!
BarBQ? Haraam!
Fireworks? Haraam!
Bang! Thud.

Now would be a good time for the United States to offer these folks whatever help they want.

Some of the callers into the radio station seemed to indicate they had been encouraged by the attitude of support from the USA, others shouted out "long live Reza Shah II" the late Shah's son currently here in the USA.
Others refered to the times of safety and security during the reign of the late Shah and the horrible contrast of life today in Iran under the Islamic regime.

....the mouthpiece newspaper belonging to the "Fuehrer Mullah Khamnei"....Does Fuehrer actually mean something in Farsi, or did he take this name just to further express his anti-semitism?

Sorry, my denigrating artistic license. The Fuehrer title fits Jew hater Ahmadi-Nejad much better but Kayhan newspaper does not report to him.

The regime has mobilized Lebanese, Syrian, Afghan, Algerian, Saudi, Iraqi and Palestinian Basijis against the people in the streets.
Evidently the mullahs can't trust Iranian security personnel to lead the charge against their own kinsmen, and have to turn the the Arab Basijis to do their dirty work. It is strange that the Basijis are probably mostly all Sunni Arabs, and the mullahs are Shiites. So the mullahs have apparently abandoned their distaste for Sunnis, especially of the Saudi type, in favor of creating paramilitary goon squads to harass the Persian majority in Iran.
