A good friend/co-worker of mine told me this morning that his parents and aunt were severely injured in a car accident this weekend in Naples, FL.
Although he is a devout democrat and card-carrying member of the ACLU, we have a close relationship in that we are intellectually honest in our debates. I kid him all the time about his carry permit being next to his ACLU card in his wallet.
Tom and I have known each other for quite a while and I'd like to ask for your prayers for him and his family. At this point he doesn't know if his father or aunt will make it.
Thanks in advance.
Don't care whose party they belong to because when one needs prayers for loved ones...it's the prayer that helps and not the party. May his family ALL make it and may he remain strong during this process. Special prayers for his father and his aunt who evidently are the worst in this whole thing. God bless everyone and may they all be well to celebrate Easter together and the renewed hope and promise it represents.
Keep everyone posted. We all care here on Free Republic and never mind praying for anyone. Hope today is a brighter day for his family and...for you as his friend.
Quick update from Tom:
After speaking with him briefly tonight, I'm happy to report that his dad is doing much, much better. So much so that he may be released in the next couple of days.
His mom is awake and alert but still has multiple serious issues to deal with for quite a while.
His aunt is still in the toughest spot in that she's still semi-awake but not responding to much. He did mention that she will, however, open her eyes if you talk to her and sometimes move her hand but that's about it.
As it turns out, his mom, dad and aunt were on vacation down there so he's got some logistics to start thinking about in terms of care (in addition to what the hospital can provide) as well as transportation back home.
Keep the prayers coming, folks! The fact that Tom's dad is up, about and almost out is a miracle in itself based upon his status of only a few days ago.
Tom wanted to be sure I gave a hearty thank you to each and every one of you for your thoughts, prayers and support.
Take care.
That is wonderful news. Will be nice for him to have his dad with him and an arm of support for his mom and his aunt. We will continuing praying for them as well. Thank you for the update. Things are looking positive and that's important.
