The childish bravado expressed in some of the responsive comments herein are an embarrassment.

Both Bernard Lewis and Daniel Pipes have clearly validated
Sam Huntington's "Clash" postulation; and even Francis Fukuyama (Globalist Extraordinaire) has failed miserably in refuting the mortal threat to western democracy posed by an ever more militant Islam.

Hold school on yourselves! Wrapping oneself in the American Flag is not the answer -- when the populace is increasisngly failing to demonstrate the resolve to protect itself against this mortal threat!

The demise of the Nation will come --not from lack of weaponry -- but from the resolve to utilize the resources necessary; and SUFFER the travail entailed in the conflict.

...IS an embarrassment; not ARE.

Grammar 101. This 77 y/o Freeper was too swept up in the moment. Sorry. *S*

Point is, folks: We are in a mortal and very protracted conflict for the very survival of Western Democracy. None of the deep research on Islam has afforded me any recourse from this position.

Further, I am most concerned that very few of our National Leaders (especially in Congress) even begin to grasp the magnitude of the challenges ahead. The naive Globalists like Clinton, Holbrooke, Albright, Talbott, even Scowcroft and his ilk truly do not understand the tribal/cultural aspects of man's inherent distrust of collectivism. And, thus the implicit built-in failure of International -- or even Regional Organizations over the long term.

Our National Life will never be the same again.

Respectfully, /s/ D. K.
