Bush ties Iran to roadside bombs in Iraq

US President George W. Bush directly linked Tehran to roadside bombings against US forces in Iraq, stepping up his criticisms of Iran amid a tense standoff over its nuclear program.

"Tehran has been responsible for at least some of the increasing lethality of anti-coalition attacks by providing Shia militia with the capability to build improvised explosive devices in Iraq," Bush said in a speech.

He cited recent congressional testimony from John Negroponte, the US director of national intelligence.

The president's comments came as he launched a public relations offensive to bolster support for the war in Iraq some three years after he ordered the US-led invasion that ousted Saddam Hussein.

Bush also charged that "some of the most powerful IEDs we are seeing in Iraq today include components that came from Iran."

Libs keep asking [castrati voice] What would Jesus do, what would Jesus do[/end castrati voice]

I will tell what J would do. He would give the green light for commencing shock & awe in Iran. And I am holding my breath till that happens.

"I will tell what J would do. He would give the green light for commencing shock & awe in Iran."

There is biblical precedence: Soddam and Gomorrah. Don't look back.

Agreed. No reason to occupy. We will need some boots on the grounds in important locations along the Hormuz Straights and very particular installations. This could be handled by Spec Ops and Airborne insertions.

We don't need to try and occupy Iran though. Too costly. Just kill the mullahs and destroy their capacity to respond millitarily.

"No reason to occupy"

OK. Can you name one war we've been in where the situation hasn't been fixed for the long term without some form of occupation?

Do you really think the good guys in Iran will magically take control without some serious U.S. muscle keeping them propped up until the bastard Jihadist current management is rounded up and dealt with?

Get real. We may have to go to war with Iran, but it will be the full enchilada, complete with boots on the ground. Hopefully this time we can count on some French and German boots this time - don't laugh, our men and women need all the help they can get.

I would still disagree. No need to occupy. We just level everything that could pose a danger to us directly. I'm sick and tired of this nation building crap. We should just level the damn place. Maybe secure the oilfields but thats about it.
