Apparently, the rifle drove itself around and shot people.

In the Liberal world that's how it usually works . These guns are highly intelligent and these same anti-gun Libs are calling for "smart gun" technology ..go figure

John Muhammed could have shot people just as effectively with a .223 caliber bolt action rifle as a Bushmaster AR-15. It's the person who squeezes the trigger that does the killing, not the bullet itself. The bullet is just a means to the ends.

"I lived through what one of these weapons can do during the sniper shootings," Mr. Duncan said, referring to the shooting spree in October 2002 that killed 10 persons and terrorized the Washington area for three weeks. "We don't need these guns on the streets."
Yet these same Dufuses will turn around and hypocritically proclaim they don't want to ban hunting rifles.
There is NO DIFFERENCE whether the sniper used a "military STYLE semi-auto and your run of the mill 3030 with a scope.
Heck he probably would have killed more people from a longer range with a deer rifle.

What is a 'military style' weapon?

"I lived through what one of these weapons can do during the sniper shootings," Mr. Duncan said, referring to the shooting spree in October 2002...The shooters fired one shot at a time. To ban all of the weapons capable of repeating that spree, they would have to ban every single rifle from .22LR on up, including single shot rifles.

In separate legislation, Duncan will propose to ban sports cars in an effort to curtail roadway speeding.

Note to self. Place that order to 44mag.com this week and pick up some M193 as well.
My standard reaction when the left spouts this nonsense.

This ought to cut down on all those damn drive-by bayonettings in MD and DC too...
To: JZelle
No, see, if the rifle hadn't had a bayonet lug, all those people would've lived. Really. No?
Uh, how about maybe that the snipers were spraying shots indiscriminately on full auto? No? Single shots? Hmm.
I've got it. Those guns look VERY SCARY and make liberals pee themselves. Yeah. That's why they need to be banned.
Forget Texas and Arizona. I want to take up a collection to put up a damn security fence along the Potomac and the Chesapeake and keep Maryland's cooties out of Virginia!

Hi All-
I just remember the horror of anonymous police officers in balaclavas yanking innocent men out of white delivery vans at gunpoint when that was the "alleged" escape vehicle. Let's get that side of the crimesolving equation addressed before we start banning inanimate objects.
It was a miracle that nobody was accidentally killed with that broadbrush approach to finding someone.

Mr. Duncan told reporters that he did not support further expansion of the state's gun-control laws beyond the proposed ban. But he'd take it if it just happened to come along. If a gun controller's lips are moving he's lying.
