We, the American people will be in Crawford Texas May 6 2006 , for a reckoning. Join us! God Bless America.

When: 1 PM Saturday May 6, 2006 Where: Crawford Texas next to the Crawford Community Service Center 999 East 4TH Street on the parking lot of the football field.

Conservatives MUST watch out that their justifiable frustration with immigration law doesn't play into the liberals' hands by weakening the President.

The President is weakening himself along with our national security due to his intentional failure to protect our borders from invasion.

Ummm, a steady progress to the right? What are you smoking and where can I get some? All I've seen a is steady progress to the left.
Today's 'Pubbies are where the Democrats were 30 years ago. Today's Democrats are Left-Central Euroweenie socialists.

Perhaps it is all in where you are looking. You are correct that many Democrats have switched parties, but that is mostly because things are polarizing and CONSERVATIVE democrats, like Ronald Reagan left the party when it embraced leftist ideas.

So, what is the good news? Conservatives own talk radio. Self Identified conservatives are up. GOP membership is up making Dem to Republican registration nearly equal for the first time since the New Deal. Fewer people are enamored with things like price controls and government handouts. Polls indicate that abortion support is at an all time low since it's legalization, panicking the feminist movement who is all but irrelevant at this point.

Even Democrat Presidents like Clinton are forced to enact conservative principles in welfare reform and use triangulation as a political strategy ("legal, safe and rare.") There is a backlash against liberalism on college campuses...oddly enough by students themselves. We have both houses of congress and the Presidency. The balance on the court is near a major tipping point.

More people are engaging in capitalist ventures, including the stock market and home ownership. While there is frustration with the medical system polls indicate that people don't want government controlled medicine either. The younger generation strongly supports dumping the SS system and moving to a privatized version, even if their "we've been planning on it" parents do not.

We have a 4.8% unemployment rate, which is breathtakingly good and the credit is not going to liberals for that. People in general are fed up with the social liberals pushing the gay agenda and anti-family, anti-religious messages on people and let it all hang out, easy rider Hollywood is loosing market share.

And all of those are off the top of my head. Sure there have been set backs. There always will be. And we will never go back to a pure Buchananesque price controlling/isolationist view of the world. (Thank goodness.) Women are not going to quit working and be content to live barefoot and pregnant (although more of us are choosing that which is, again, good news.)

If you take a genuine look at where the MOMENTUM is, if we are careful...it is headed our way, not theirs. So what have I been smoking? I'd say a healthy dose of appreciation, of gratitude, of optimism. A healthy dose of THANK YOU to all the conservatives who worked so hard wandering in the wilderness...but are frustrated now because it's taking longer than they wish. That is what I'm smoking my friend. And I would be happy to share.

This revolution may be too slow for some, but that doesn't mean we are moving backward. It also may not be your father's conservatism. But the world isn't your father's world either.

That said, we still have a lot of work to do. But slow and steady wins the race and it would do all of us well to remember that. We build conservatism one person at a time from the bottom up—not through pronouncements and control from the top down. That is dangerous and unstable.

Winners don't constantly throw hail Mary passes and hope to win. They are wary of the interception. Even though it is unfailingly more exciting, they realize that in the end, it's all or nothing. So they run a strong, steady ground game, with an eye on the goal, building momentum and realizing even if they lose a yard or two, progress is what is important. You may think I'm crazy. But that is how I see it. And I am ready to put as much time and energy into this thing over the course of my life as those who came before me have—one first down at a time.

The issue is that we who live on the border live in an undeclared war zone.

There is a thread here about the March 1st testimony of the sheriff of Valverde County [TX] concerning Federal Strategies to End Border Violence. He is a member of the Texas Border Sheriffs Coalition

He appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee; Subcommittee on Immigration, Border Security and Citizenship and the Subcommittee on Terrorism, Technology, and Homeland Security.

Testimony of Sheriff A. D'Wayne Jernigan:

Since you seem to think we are playing into the liberal's hands, what do you suggest we do?

Have a demonstration, but anywhere but Crawford, Texas. Your organizers can't be that tone-deaf to what the media will say. EVERY report will start out along the lines of "Last Summer it was Cindy Sheehan ... This year, it's people who are normally the President's friends ... "

Cindy Sheehan will be mentioned in every dispatch -- which does you no good, since people either believe she is a liberal goddess or a complete moonbat.

I guarantee, whoever had the idea of placing this demo in Crawford is either NOT acting in your best interest, PR-wise, or is completely media-ignorant.

I resent the fact that those who don't live on the border act as though we should just sit down, shut up and take it.

Tough words, but they need saying. I frequently find myself frustrated by the total lack of knowledge exhibited by folks who don't live down here, but are intelligent enough to at least have an inkling about what's going on.

Here is a link to info about the man that was our Sheriff on the border, a fine man and a great Sheriff. He tried to get attention to the border problems years ago. He is now the Chief of Police for the town of Playas, the Homeland Security training town. Bill is a friend of ours and has been frustrated by the border issues for a long time. He tried to form a border Sheriff's coaliton years ago, but I guess he was ahead of his time.
Thanks for the links, hope you enjoy this one.

We have been trying to get the President's attention, he is ignoring us. Worse than that he name calls those who do hear our concern. Do you not see the level of frustration? He has his own agenda and is not interested in our concerns or ideas.
He is in fact opposed to anything but his own plan of amnesty and open borders with no concern for what that will mean for those of us who live on the border. It will also have an adverse effect on the rest of the country as well, but by the time that is obvious to all, I fear it would be too late to solve the problem. I truly think he needs a wake-up call.

Absolutely, I will not blindly follow anyone to my doom. If he wants or needs the support of those of us on the border, he will have to earn it.

President Bush has failed miserably on illegal immigration. I'll support whomever steps up to the plate and deploys our National Guard units to the border and keeps them there until a permanent wall/barrier can be built.

Immigration is a huge problem. But it is just plain ignorant to split up the GOP and let Hillary in the back door and then they will probably post guards on the border to make sure no one gets in or out.

Trouble is some people here are talking politics and you're talking about your very lives. Until this is more than a political issue to them, I wouldn't worry what they had to say.

Uhhh, I would suggest that you spend as much time excoriating President Bush to change his anti-American worker attitude and course of action on illegal immigration as you do on those Americans who are fed up with his globalization efforts to strip America of its sovereignty and destroy its hard working middle-class in order to supply the rich business men a continued unlimited source of slave wage labor for their businesses. The time you spend on that effort would be better spent than jumping on those Americans who are tired of having President Bush impose HIS misguided as well as ill-considered will upon the rest of this country.

Oh, and BTW. The idea for a protest at his ranch in Crawford makes pretty good sense to this Conservative American if one is trying to get his and Congress's attention for this critical issue. If Bush should do an about face then it would be considered worth the effort. If not, then something different and perhaps more drastic will need to be contemplated. Only he can avert a complete melt-down of his party.

Maybe you should be talking to our President about your concerns of a party split over border issues and illegals coming and staying in this country. We have tried, he does not listen to us. We are on the conservative side of this issue, he is the one who is not. Have you thought about that??
