I'm still trying (for the life of me) to figure out why Abizaid would come out for or opposed...seems to compromise his leadership abilitiy in the field.

Seems to me Gen Abizaid has spent too much time learning from Weasely Clark, instead of H. Norman Schwarzkopf or even Tommy Franks.

Not only were his "bigots" remarks NO good for morale, it was egregious in that it was cheap political lobbying by the General. The kind of stunt I'd have expected from Bill Clinton.

But let's put it THIS way...

It wasn't an accident. And it wasn't spontaneous.

It was ordered and cleared from the top.

Unbelievably.
