Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist tore into his Senate colleague, Russ Feingold, on Sunday, saying the Wisconsin Democrat's plan to introduce a resolution of censure against President Bush in a time of war would give aid and comfort to America's enemies.
"Russ is just wrong. He is flat wrong. He is dead wrong," Frist fumed on ABC's "This Week," minutes after Feingold announced his censure plan on the same show.
The top Republican complained: "As I was listening to it, I was hoping deep inside that the leadership in Iran and other people who really have the U.S. not in their best interests, were not listening because of the terrible, terrible signal it sends."
Asked if he thought Feingold's censure resolution "actually weakened America abroad," Frist told "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos, "Yes.
"We are right now in a war, in an unprecedented war - where we do have people who really want to take us down . . . So the signal that is sends, that there is in any way a lack of support for our Commander-in-Chief, who is leading us with a bold vision in a way that we know is making our homeland safer, is wrong."
The Tennessee Republican warned that Feingold's resolution will prompt "leadership around the world of our sworn enemies to say, 'Well, now we have a little crack there.'"
Bob Dole, the tax collector for the Welfare State.
Perhaps they can agree to censure Frist for thinking bad things about the Demo-RINO majority.

Bob Dole doesn't like being insulted! Bob Dole, Bob Dole!
You hit the nail on the head! I am so disappointed at Freepers at times. Shirley

Don't look for Bill Frist to help the President. Frist is a "little weeney" and doesn't have the guts to stand up to the likes of Feingold.
Oh, man, not this again! Congress has been under Social Security since the early '80s, and those pension collections are nonsense. You can make a case that an auto worker will collect millions of dollars in pension, if you make assumptions.
I'd guess Snopes has this story, but it's been around too often for me to want to bother posting the link.
Oooooooh, Will Sister Frist hit Brother Feingold with his purse?
Treasonous 'rats giving aid and comfort to the enemy in time of war.
The sun will rise in the east tomorrow and cross the sky.
Just what I was thinking.
How did the political stunt equating our allies with terrorists, and shouting down the Prez in childish fashion..though to be fair the House Republicans disgraced themselves the most on that... help strengthen G.W.B.? How does having Congress rail against tapping the terrorists help his standing? How does trashing Rummy help us in this war? yeah, I mean YOU McCain. How does providing extra provisions for terrorists so not one hair is harmed help our President fight a brutal war? how does it help our troops?
I mean, great, It's nice he's FINALLY saying what he should have been saying....FOUR YEARS AGO. Would be nice if these Congresscritters backed it up with REAL support in that building they congregate in as well. The vocal defense is a bit too late. I'd rather start seeing actual support that materializes in actions we can measure. Like, I don't know, stop calling for Congressional hearings everytime the NYT's sneezes out a new national security secret. Give benefit to the President when the MSM comes looking for a quote in the middle of a new manufactured scandal.
Talk is cheap.
I defended Frist for years, up to a few months ago.
I want action that backs up his tough talk. Ditto all the Reps. Talk is no longer good enough.
Talk WOULD have been good enough four years ago...three years ago..two years ago..one year ago....three months ago. But they couldn't be bothered to say this when it would have mattered to counter the MSM propaganda. Now the ONLY thing that will get through to the American people is action that PROVES they are serious about the WOT and support this President. The rest the people are going to tune out as fluff, because everytime the Reps say one thing...they come out and do another.
Don't mistake that 'm unusually harsh toward Frist. I feel this way about virtually all of them now.
And, don't mistake I don't like what he said. I do. My feeling is along the lines of, "It's about damn time." But Frist is running for President. When it would have MATTERED, he was silent. It'll take more than words to win me over now.
The Senate doesn't develop leaders, it develops wusses. The last time anyone went from the Senate to the Presidency was 46 years ago (JFK). Before that, it's another long haul, -----neither Eisenhower, Truman, Roosevelt, Hoover, Coolidge, good night, do we have to reach all the way to the 1800'a to find a previous example? If you want a real President, ignore the Senators.
Wake up, Frist. Or is this just pure demagoguery? I'm not even going to touch the bold vision crap, but if Frist doesn't think our enemies are smart enough to figure out that Bush's dismal approval ratings amount to a lack of support, he is even less intelligent than I thought him.
And what is it lately with Congressional Republicans? Which pinhead told them their best strategy would be to answer the idiot babbling of the Democrats with even more idiotic babbling of their own?
It seems that with all the talk about the Senate being the home of reasoned, calm debate and not passionate diatribes common to the House of Representatives, only the Republicans hold themselves to those standards when they are the target of savage, craven rhetoric.
Of course, the MSM gives the Demo Senators shield in such instances. Let Rick Santorum say make a tortured parallel of the Democratic minority to Hitler, and it's all over the news (rightly). But when Dick Durbin likened interrogations at Gitmo to Stalin's gulags and Pol Pot's killing fields, it had to be dragged out into the open by talk radio. And Harry Reid can suggest Clarence Thomas' writing is below high school level, and no one bats an eye. Hillary likens the GOP majority to plantation owners before a black audience, and it doesn't register more than a blip.
Feingold's calling for the censure of the President called for stronger terms than "Russ is wrong, dead wrong." I would have expected something in the realm of "How dare this Senator waste time and resources on this pointless publicity-seeking crusade that he knows, first of all, is doomed to defeat, and secondly, that gives the enemies of this country the impression that we in this body are not dedicated to protecting it by every means necessary!"
Of course, Frist would have had to refer to Feingold as "my good friend."
Lott owns that title. Only thing he was competent at was selling his party out.
Are you really serious? NO ONE -- and I mean NO ONE -- could ever be worse than that spineless jellyfish (aka Trent Lott, the former cheerleader).
