"We can help them feel better about Americans if we write to them and express our dismay about the over-reaction slamfest and bigotry leveled against them.
POC

samantha has a great idea here. I know another FReeper asked you about how much a full page add would cost to place an add in the paper over there..."

See my post #682 on this thread and ping bayourant as they're the one that mentioned doing an ad. There is also a link on there to an Emerati blog - if you want to let Emeratis know your feelings, that might be a place to start.

So now agreeing with you is clinging to ignorance? I'm sure I can find someone who agrees with that.

Since Pence has a radio/broadcaster background he probably has a better inkling of when to hold em and when to fold em and went to walk the hell away. It should have been handled early with Chuckkie Schumer not getting his coveted face time in the Media, and blowing this way out of proportion. GWB cannot trust the Pubbies to do the right thing anymore, and he will be left standing til 2009 January and many of them will be long gone. I trust George Bush much more than I will ever again trust them . There are plenty of People out there like me that have really been shocked by the Pubbie cowardice. I am glad that those elected officials are not in Uniform fighting for us. It is going to be very hard the next time I am in person with the Congressman because of my Position and Republican Leadership and activism. It will not be pretty.

Things haven't felt like this, to me, since the madness that started in the summer of 1968.

Right on, but you could smell it coming for many months now.

Like I posted on a thread earlier this week...

The Congressweinies aren't worried so much about "national" security, as they are about their JOB security.

Not ignorant, nor is their a bigoted bone in my body. Yet to call the UAE's embassy to do as you'd reccomend is akin to reccomending that the sheep call the wolf's lair and badmouth the sheepdogs. Sheepdogs smell bad, you know, and smart sheep want to distance themselves from them. At least so do wolves inform me.

A liberal Democratic senator who is considering a White House bid in 2008 said Sunday he is seeking to censure President Bush over his domestic eavesdropping program. The Senate majority leader called it "a crazy political move."

Sadly this makes Feingold a "moderate" Democrat, a "true progressive" would insist on impeachment....

Ok, strip all the nonsense, the spin, the Talking Head trash speak. Here is the POLITICS of the Port Deal. The Port Deal is Influence for Hire and Election Year PR at its worse.

A Miami company, run by fat cat Democrat Donors, got beat out for the P&O deal by Dubai Port World. They hired a big shot lawyer and filed a lawsuit. They knew they the Lawsuit was crap so they scurried up to Capitol Hill to get cry for help. The Unions hated it cause they knew in new Union Negotiations with the new company they were going to get seriously squeezed by technological improvements. Chucky Schumer, head of the Democrat Senate Election Committee took the lobbying info and ran with it. It allowed him to do a number of things. It allows Democrats to nuke their "weak on National Security" PR vulnerability. It gets him a big wet sloppy kiss from the unions in terms of money and foot solider for the campaigns. It gets him big dollars from the Port Terminal companies, it drives a wedge into the Republican base, and best of all he got Know Nothing Talking Heads like Sean Hannity, Mike Savage and Laura Ingraham to do the PR dirty work for him.

The best thing is they can walk away winners now, OR they can go to stage two and lobby that the ports be "nationalized" like they did with the Airline Screener. The Congresscowards, their usual gutless selves, simply looked at the polls and panics. NEVER even thought that they should stand by the President and fight for the truth. They simply panic and rolled over for the Dem's AGAIN.

No national security implications, no nonsense about "turning our ports over to Arabs" simply a business deal where the losers went to Congress to buy the influence to reverse the deal. The same Americans running the port terminals now would of been running them after the deal for Dubai Port World. The name on the outside of the terminal and the name on the paycheck given to the American terminal workers would have change and that is about it.

Simply amazing that the same people who whine endlessly about "Bush big spending" and "Big Govt Republicans" now have seen to it that there will be an expansion in the cost, scope and reach of the Federal Govt over the Private Sector. That's the REALITY which the Whine All The Time Choir just screamed down rather then admit their "I'm made at Bush" hissy fit about the Terminal Deal.

RUSH understood it but since it did NOT conform to your preconceived notions and emotional hissy fit mood, you just tuned him out. Stupid mistake. We shall see now just how much damage you all did to the Conservative cause. The Democrats are not letting go and certain of your supposed "Freeper allies" among the "Real Conservatives" are doing everything they can to fan the flames. You MIGHT want to be a little more cynical about whom you trust. Just because someone talks really tough about this issue or that for a time does NOT mean they are seriously on your side.

In intelligence work it is called a False Flag Operation. For example, Your are the KGN and want to get into NATO. The security against you is too good. So since you cannot get inside NATO, so you set up a phony "Israeli" front operation. You know some of the Rightist American officers were not happy with the way Israel is being cut out by the Euros from Nato. So these Americans will hook line and sinker for the opportunity to give "under the table" briefing about plans and naval operations in the Med to an "Israeli" source What they are in fact doing is handing the info straight to the KGB via a "False flag" Israeli sleeper agent.

NOT everyone on this website is actually Conservative NOR actually interested in the same goals you are. WATCH what they post. Really curious how certain posters do everything in their power to push anti Republican PR lines 100% of the time. Most of life is a bell curve. Anytime you see something that consistently groups at one end or the other of the curve, warning bells should go off in your heads. Once is chance, twice is circumstantial, 3 times is enemy actions. Any traffic analysis worth his salt would be taking a really close look if they saw the sort of communication pattern some of our fellow "Freepers" follow.

I am afraid I am the wrong person to ask about this because I have a few years before I am eligible for Medicare. Everyone I know on Medicare is absolutely happy with the New Part D. I just took my 80 year old good friend to set up/do Paperwork for all her meds at her Doctor's office and then took her to Walgreens to put all the data in the Computer. She is now all set and will be paying a little but not a lot for her Meds. I was really talking about 4D (Dimension) ultra-sounds for Pregnant women.

Yeah, I am. The AMerican that lives in the UAE and post on here at night is going to get rates. I told him to check rates in the Gulf Weekly. See if we raise some money for it etc. I think the big benifit would be that it would help out the troops that visit there and the americans working there.

Maybe you should try to get more involved? Have you volunteered to do any political work? You obviously have a lot of time and energy to devote to it.

I think it would do more than that...

do you remember last year when Kuwait ran an add thanking us?

I will NEVER forget the way that made me feel...

I want them to NOT GIVE UP!

I want them to know that we DO appreciate that they have been moving forward not backwards.... such a gleam of hope they are for me over there in the Middle East...

Let me know when PrinceofCups gets you that price please?

I again repeat nobody has the right to demand that a violated Woman carry that Child. You and I can say we would hope she would chose to save that life even if the life is only just conceived, but there should always be a legal way for the victim/woman to make that choice herself. We can agree to disagree, and let it go at that.

Hunter:The Dubai government in 2003 shipped 66 nuclear triggers, high-speed switches that can be used to detonate nuclear weapons -- allowed that shipment to go to Islamabad, even while we had an American agent standing on the dock asking the customs director of Dubai not to let this shipment go.

How does Hunter come to the conclusion that the above underlined statement of his is true?

Link posted elsewhere above, link and some contents reproduced here ...

A U.S. OEE [Office of Export Enforcement] special agent based in Dubai learned of the shipment's arrival in that city's customs shed and tried to stop it from going to Pakistan, but was reportedly rebuffed by the country's customs director.

And some additional stuff, I don't think was linked elsewhere in this thread.

Notice that in one version, the conviction of Karni is reported to be for sale of an oscilloscope? The specific model sold is also a restricted export item, controlled for nuclear nonproliferation reasons. I haven't bothered to seek or read the papers filed in the case to see if his convicion is also based on transfer of krytrons, but Karni admits to being a middleman in that transaction. Could be like Padilla, publicly accused of "conspiring to dirty bomb," but charged with providing material support to terrorist organizations.

Trading With The Enemy
Matthew Swibel, 04.19.04

On Oct. 3 U.S. investigators got a tip from a South African source. The shipment was headed for Islamabad via a DHL freight-forwarding service on Emirates Airlines--Dubai's government carrier. Hours after the Emirates Airbus jet landed at Dubai International Airport on Oct. 20, a U.S. special agent there tracked down the spark gaps to the airline's cargo shed, contacted its director of security and demanded to inspect the box. The response? Not a chance, according to the U.A.E.'s director of customs. The next day the goods, valued at $30,000, arrived in Pakistan aboard another Emirates flight.

October 2003: 66 triggered spark gaps, which can be used to detonate nuclear weapons, are shipped without the required license from the United States to Top-Cape Technology in South Africa. They are subsequently transshipped via Dubai to AJMC Lithographic Aid Society in Pakistan. In 2004 Asher Karni, an Israeli living in South Africa, pleads guilty to conspiring to export controlled commodities to Pakistan without validated export licenses. In 2005 the U.S. indicts Humayun Khan of the Pakistani company Pakland PME for violating export restrictions and being the ultimate purchaser.

Asher Karni, a South African national, was sentenced to 36 months in prison on August 4, 2005 by a Washington, D.C. federal court after pleading guilty to illegally exporting restricted electronic items that can be used in nuclear weapons and missile systems. Karni admitted that in March 2003 he obtained a Tektronix oscilloscope from an unnamed company in Plainview, N.Y., and had the company send it to South Africa. When the shipment arrived at Top-Cape, Karni forwarded it to Pakistan. Karni did not obtain the requisite export license before shipping the item from the United States.

October 2005 - Fact Sheet

ICE ARMS & STRATEGIC TECHNOLOGY INVESTIGATIONS

Components with Nuclear Weapons Applications to Pakistan & India - On April 8, 2005, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia unsealed an indictment against Humayun Khan, 47, of Pakistan, charging him with illegally exporting oscilloscopes with nuclear weapons applications to Pakistan. Kahn was also charged with plotting to illegally export 66 nuclear detonator devices from the U.S. to Pakistan, via South Africa and the United Arab Emirates. On the same day, prosecutors announced that Asher Karni, 51, an Israeli national who resided in South Africa, pleaded guilty to charges that he worked with Khan to illegally export the oscilloscopes and nuclear triggers to Pakistan. Karni also pleaded guilty to charges that he illegally exported sensitive U.S. electronics to facilities in India that are involved in that nations nuclear and missile development program. The indictment of Khan and the guilty plea by Karni resulted from an extensive investigation by Commerce Department and ICE agents in Boston, Denver, and South Africa. Khan, who operated Pakland PME Corporation in Pakistan, remains at large. Karni, who owned Top-Cape Technology in South Africa, was recently sentenced to 36 months incarceration. The investigation is ongoing.

I happen to know that Dueling Bozos skit by heart. Rush's impression of Senator Hollings is priceless.

It really is a hilarious sketch, but I need a transcript for that on section where Rush/Senator Hollings complains that "they had to send a XXX truck..." What kind of truck? "Grease?" "Beef." My ears must have been damaged by Wednesday afternoon square-dancing.
