Probably because you are. You strike me as open minded on facts, willing to change your position based on new knowledge, and well rooted in principle.
As an example of rooted in principle, you and I ran very close in the same circle as Mae's fate unfolded.

Former top judge says US risks edging near to dictatorship
· Sandra Day O'Connor warns of rightwing attacks · Lawyers 'must speak up' to protect judiciary
Julian Borger in Washington Monday March 13, 2006
The Guardian (UK)
Sandra Day O'Connor, a Republican-appointed judge who retired last month after 24 years on the supreme court, has said the US is in danger of edging towards dictatorship if the party's rightwingers continue to attack the judiciary.
In a strongly worded speech at Georgetown University, reported by National Public Radio and the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, Ms O'Connor took aim at Republican leaders whose repeated denunciations of the courts for alleged liberal bias could, she said, be contributing to a climate of violence against judges.
Ms O'Connor, nominated by Ronald Reagan as the first woman supreme court justice, declared: "We must be ever-vigilant against those who would strong-arm the judiciary." Snip....
Yep. Been following O'Connor for a few years. She's a practitioner of outcome-based jurisprudence.
HEY! what's wrong with being RESPECTFUL TO MY IGNORENCE.. and my FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELINGS?

I like the Tin Foil Hat one better. Almost said "Tin Foil Hate". That is a good one too.
ROFLLLL!!!!!!
Beware the Dark Side Sandra!
As usual I only caught bits and pieces (I can only take "them" in small doses) but I'm generally impressed. I'll get the Podcast and transcript and study the details before I pass judgement.
I'm particularly impressed with the "outside the box" staements of the NYT reporter/co-author differeing from the party line. Couple that with Timmy's total slap down on his meme on the CNBC interview with the author of Jawbreaker and this was a good weekend.
It's up to us to pick out those tidbits and force feed them to the alternate media, in case they didn't catch it.
Yo, Tony, you listening?
Is that yours?
It's common. Scalia expressed it in one of his dissents (I don't recall if it was verbatim), I'd have to dig a bit to find which case, but he was aiming squarely at O'Connor.
I'm sure I posted similar here on FR years ago. In short, it's not new. Not much is.
