Good idea....but, I wouldn't look for the same percentage in the Senate..

Because some of the dems got major backlash for NOT voting for Murtha's get outta town quick plan...PLUS, in the Senate there are at least 3 Dems Senators running for POTUS...so they might have to hedge their bets..

It might happen...if Frist thinks he can get a result favorable to President Bush.

BTW...did you or anyone see the blurb about how Daschle is thinking of running for POTUS, and his first "campaign" talking point is that President Bush is TOO concerned about the War on Terror!!!

WOW..that should go over big!

I watched the FNC show...and I have to admit that IF the anti-ports people like Peter King, Jerry Lewis, Duncan Hunter had explained things RATIONALLY like that...

I would have respected them more...but, like Brit said, they ran away as fast at they could...like it was Anthrax in the Capitol again.

THAT, I won't forget...as well as the fact that the didn't live up to their end of the bargain made to Bush.

I LOVE that Chris brought up the Slate article about the 3 Stooges....LOL

Too bad there wasn't a show about "The Dozen Stooges"..because I am sure we could find 9 more that would be equally as inept.

I think their straight-up news has degraded but they have been and still are much more fair and balanced than ABCCBSCNNNBC....

They have always been tabloid. They were sickening me with Chandra Levy and only stopped when 9/11 occurred.

Kristol resents anyone with hair and is over 5ft2. I used to be a Conservative Democrat, and that is how I know how the Dems think. Since 1991 I have not been a dem and to tell you the truth some of the lifelong Pubbies I know are a lot less conservative than me. Thank God most of them are good Conservatives. The most fervently Conservative are the switchers from the last 20 years. Can anyone say Reagan woke us up?

Many Senate Democrats may not be running but they are still vulnerable for the message they are sending out. Chris Dodd had that problem this morning on FNS. He had to defend Pelosi, Reid and Dean while distancing himself from their non message consisting of doom and gloom along with a zero Democrat plan for the future.

How long can Democrats keep telling their supporters they don't need a plan? Their MoveOn crowd won't accept any support for anything Bush does and their state constitutents, who are more moderate, won't support these radical views.

I believe that's why Dodd now claims the Republican Contract With America was not responsible for the Republican takeover of congress, and that it was more a case that Republicans attacking Clinton that accomplished it. If Democrats concede the Contact With America worked, it begs the question of where the Democrat party plan is now? If they deny this was the reason for their loss in 1994, it allows them to avoid having to explain what they plan on doing now or in the future.

As much as we complain about our infighting, can you imagine how bad it would be if our party leaders refused to say what they stand for or would do if elected? This has got to be driving Democrats nuts.

Ok, HERE is the top 10! And boy am I going to take it out on you Rodguy for making me stay up so late to get it done today! As always this was really tough to pick a "Top Ten". Lots of very good commentary again today. Quite a wide ranging discussion from Music to Scotch to Ports to Politics. Hi, Beyond the Sea! {There is your honorable mention. :-)}

10. Mcgavin999. #153 ###### Although still the cable-leader, Fox News ratings slide 15 to 20% during February. Slide is almost equal on all the shows - the most affected was H&C which lost a little over half million viewers and down to #4 from #2 status. They're losing us. More and more of us are only tuning in once in awhile if at all. FOX used to be fair and balanced but it's becoming Lib Lite lately.#236. FOX used to be a news channel with intelligent commentary programs every night, discussing the issues of the day. Now it's all about missing women and bashing the president. Also, 267 and 345.

9. Aliveritas. Where have YOU been! Man do we miss you when you are gone. # 519 Hey Mo, sorry to break in: FYI, Ace went off and laid it out. Case (Officer) Closed: Valerie Plame Was Not Covert, Not A NOC, Ever, Never Ever http://ace.mu.nu/also #554

8. Prince of Cups. An invaluable source for an "other side of the deal" view. #599. What country would want to do business with France or Germany?...Business in the Middle East is about strong, long-term relationships. If are trading partners begin to doubt our word'--and don't deliver, they will look elsewhere. The Middle East will always look for security and trust in relationships. The impact of the DPW fiasco wasn't the business deal loss, it was the loss of trust that was carefully crafted over many years. #565. We are lucky we are so strong militarily; the friendly Middle East countries do overlook our stupidity because of our great military. Otherwise, the Europeans and Far East countries would kill us in business out here. Right now, however, we can still beat the Danes!

7. Maica. #1006. Always a contender! How does Hunter come to the conclusion that the above underlined statement of his is true? I think Hunter's middle name is Hyperbole. #316. Excellent summary. I realize that Fox News is in business to make money, and Rupert Murdock saw the untapped market of conservative viewers in 1996, when hi hired Roger Ailes to run the channel. Over the years, we conservatives petitioned every cable company to get Fox news on the air all over the country. I bet they finally have full saturation, and now do not need to rely on our loyalty. So we get Marvin Kalb, Wesley Clark, Martin Frost... If I wanted to hear their opinion I would have stayed with CNN. also 81,94,122,148,169,185,339,876,878,885,948.

6. Mo1. Still haven't figured out the name but love the posts. #404 http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,,1695976,00.html (snip) It does not exactly have blockbuster written all over it. The film is a documentary about Al Gore, the famously wooden vice-president and failed presidential candidate, wheeling his suitcases from town to town and presenting a slideshow about climate change. Yet An Inconvenient Truth is getting standing ovations at the Sundance film festival in Utah this week. The festival guide describes the film as a "gripping story" with "a visually mesmerising presentation" that is "activist cinema at its very best". In Nashville, Mr Gore's home town, fire marshals had to turn away hundreds of fans trying to get into a screening. #496.Mafia's Role in Ports Also Raises Concerns 469. Iraqi Parliament to Convene Thursday #123, 142, 146, 159. 263, 284, 259, 363, 274, 274, 289, 416, 463, 475, 496, 513 and 521.

5. Cboldt. Did not grace us with much time today but it was again a painful experience for those on the receiving end of his formidable research skills. A far better Journalist then 95% of the people PAID to do the job. #583. The "66 switches" story has many facts in the public domain - and may or may not reflect badly on the UAE (although my initial impression is to think it does not reflect badly on the UEA, and CERTAINLY not on DPW - DPW didn't handle the shipment). #730. The following is a partial transcript from the March 12, 2006, edition of "FOX News Sunday With Chris Wallace": #849 66 Nuclear Triggers - Krytrons An Israeli ex-pat, Asher Karni, living in South Africa, ordered a couple hundred Perkins Elmer GP-20B switches. The devices are dual-use technology, and on a US export restriction list. Pekins Elmer was suspicious of the order, and tipped off US authorites. They prepared a shipment of 66 DISABLED switches and sent them to Mr. Karni. #856 Nutcase links, re: Karni, etc. http://www.federalobserver.com/archive.php?aid=7341 http://www.originaldissent.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16865 Bush links to nuclear arms smuggler Asher Karni are real reason Plame and Brewster Jennings & Associates exposed. Wayne Madsen Report. On Aug 8, Karni (Israeli citizen) was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Ricardo Urbina to three years in prison for trying to ship the nuclear triggers to the A.Q. Khan network in Pakistan Also #871, 883, 1039 and 1059.

4. Rockrr. PLEASE do not just go back to lurking!!! #425 was an awesome maiden post! Please understand that, right now, I consider Allen to be my personal front-runner for the presidential nod. My point is that: 1. It's still too early make our final choice 2. It's an evolving contest on very uneven ground. 3. It would be a foolish mistake to damage a good candidate by trashing him prematurely. This rant is not against any particular FReeper, just against what I see as an unfortunate predilection to take assessments or criticisms and project them too far. Back to lurk-mode ;'}" #873 What was it Reagan said about 80% of something being better than 100% of nothing? ;'} Also #517 and 749.

And the top three are? Can't tell ya. It's secret. Bush's Fault. See he and Cheney run such a secretive Administration the top three are classified. You will have to wait until Sen Jay Rockefeller leaks it to the NY DNC Times.
