If you think Congress is just going to "drop the issue", you're not paying much attention. Congress' actions on Thursday laid out the template for future foreign investments in this country. If they only scrutinize Arab countries, and 83% of the public gets their panties in a twist, it will be seen as being xenophobic. If they allow China or Pakistan or India or Great Britain to do business here without scrutinization or 83% of the public is ok with it, then it will be seen as being racist toward Arabs.

Re-read my comment that you quoted. I was referring specifically to posters here at Free Republic fanning the intra-forum flame war by posting this "opinion" piece.
