childhood friend of my youngest brother and has always had a big heart full of compassion for others! Destry was responsible for finding and rescuing a baby girl that was ripped from a family members arms in the devastating tornado that hit the Moore and Oklahoma City area in May of 1999. He was also with some of the first responders in the Oklahoma City bombing. He needs PRAYERS for protecting and covering his exposed body from any infection, which Doctors say will take his life! The Doctors have told the family that there is nothing they can do for him now, after having amputated both of his arms and removing all of his badly burned skin from the waist up during a procedure done on Tuesday the 7th. Typical of Destry's care for others, he was not even on active duty on the day of the fire and was planning to go and play golf. When he learned of the terrible fire in Duncan, he knew he must forgo his plans and go in on voluntary duty to help those in need! PLEASE pray for the Lord to protect and cover Destry, keeping him from any and all infection, and bringing a miraculous recovery to this special young man! I know that Destry's life would be a testimony to the power of God and prayer!

I live in Tenn., but was in OKC visiting relatives when this fire occurred.
Those boys that were shooting roman candles should experience the same fate as this fireman.
He is certainly in our prayers. It is a miracle that he has lived this long as, I heard his mother say a day or two after that he was only given a 20% chance to live.

Prayers.
That fire spread through Duncan fast (per reports I heard). It consumed 30 homes in the area.
The wildfires have been bad from NM through TX and OK into AR and LA. The areas are finally getting some much needed rains.

Lord Jesus, You are the great healer. And you have given us the authority to heal here in Your Holy Name. I claim this promise that greater things than these shall we also do. Jesus in Your Name I pray for Your healing touch and hedge of protection from infection in Your servant Destry. I pray for Your comfort and strength for his family, friends and co-workers. In Jesus Name. Amen

The wildfires have been bad from NM through TX and OK into AR and LA. The areas are finally getting some much needed rains. They sure have but I'm happy to report that it has been snowing since last night and it's still snowing. We've got between 8 and 10 inches already, and they say it's supposed to snow until noon tomorrow. I live in the very western part of NM, so it's going to be a day or two before it moves on out. This storm is headed east and should bring some relief to those states too. There are, however; fierce, cold, winds with this system and that will probably cause some tornadoes once it gets into that warm, moist gulf climate.

JL, he's been on our prayer list since we heard about his injuries. He'll stay there until he recovers, too! Please keep us informed--local news has been very silent since a couple days after the fires.

What makes it even more sad is, Destry didn't have to be injured in this. The Duncan fires were reportedly started by some bored kids setting off fireworks from the back of their pickup truck.

Heavenly Father, we return to thank You for the bravery and compassion that have been so much a part of this young fire fighter's life. May it be, Merciful Father, that miraculous healing will be granted unto Destry, for the skills and talents of his medical team have run their course. Place a hedge of protection around him, O God, that nothing can penetrate, that he might live. We acknowledge that You are Sovereign ... "In his hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind." Job 12:10. May Destry's family yet know the desire of their hearts ... the recovery of their beloved husband and father and son and friend.
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray, Amen ...
