I heard that DPW said they would not take a loss on this.
I wonder if those terminals would have to close if no buyer is found?
Disney (World) would be a natural.
Eller is the one that sued P & O over the deal.
this is for 6 ports right? let me venture a guess that no matter who buys them at this point those ports start losing business to other ports.
i wasn't necessarily for 'dubai ownership' but could not figure out exactly what plan-b was for all those so vehemently against it. once gov gets in the middle of free market operations that have nothing to do with national security -- well, nothing good ever comes of it.
somehow, somewhere, someway u.s. taxpayers are going to be footing an indirect or direct cost of this fiasco.
(O.K. geniuses, now what?!)Oh gee, I don't know. Self sufficiency?
If our lives depend on 6 port operations our problems are deeper than who runs them.
The nitwit inbreds have already threatend to cancel some US investments because of this. Is that the kind of people we need running our vital operations? What else would they find to hold us hostage once they got a foothold?
I say the UAE can rot in hell with all of their OUR money.
That's an excellent beginning.
Now, let's extend that to the rest of our industry.
And then, we can end outsourcing.
George Sorros to import more hate.
Are we going to continue accepting shipments from overseas
ports that are managed by an Arab, sorry Dubai company.
We will have to let Canada or Mexico accept and then transfer these shipments.
This Dubai company has been declared dangerous, and
incapable of living up to U.S security standards.
Come to think of it, Communist Chinese were given full clearance to run U.S. harbors by Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter for the Panam canal, or did Clinton had approve this clearance as down payment for his Chinese campaign contributions?
On one side is China a communist dictatorship, on the other Dubai, a Arab and U.S. friendly supporter.
Maybe us Freepers can pool all our money and make a small down payment on account.....on account of that's all we've got.
Motto: "Just give us the money and shut up."
What a mess.
Well, which ever companies, US or foreign, take over the management of the terminals should be subjected to the same 45-day scrutiny as critics insisted DPW should undergo.
After all, planes belonging to American companies were hijacked to bring about the destruction and death of 9/11, so American companies should not be above scrutiny.
I'm sure the leftists agree that we want to be really sure we are secure.
I'm sorry, I missed that headline on 9/11. I expect you would have run it then too, eh?
Just guessing, how about Crowley Maritime Corporation
http://www.crowley.com/aboutus/company-overview.asp
We built those ports and this country but you suggest that maybe we now neeed foreign help to keep them running??
