"US, Japan, Australia Launch New Security Dialogue"
By Patrick Goodenough

(CNSNews.com) -
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "U.S. officials also have spoken about prodding China to become a "responsible stakeholder" in the international order, but at the same time the Bush administration views China's military buildup with concern.
China early this month announced that its official defense budget would rise 14.7 percent to $35 billion in 2006. The figure has more than doubled since 2000. A Pentagon report last year estimated that China's actual military spending could be up to three times higher than the official figure given.
At a press conference in Sydney Thursday, Rice called the budget increase cause for concern and urged Beijing to be transparent about its military program."

Open Doors Urges Prayers During NK Freedom Week April 22-30

For Immediate Release
SANTA ANA, CA (ANS) -- At the camp I witnessed public executions, forced labor and other inhumane atrocities. New prisoners in the North Korean political prison camps are taught not to consider themselves as human beings. The prisoners cannot complain of beatings or even murders.
Even the children are subject to forced labor, and about one third of them die of malnutrition and heavy labor. I also suffered from malnutrition three months after being imprisoned, lacking even the strength to walk.
Because we were not given any source of protein, we would catch and eat snakes, frogs or even worms in order to survive. At first, I did not want to taste these things. One day my friends caught some rats while working in the fields and roasted them on an open fire.
That was the first time I tasted rat meat, and that one piece of rat meat sustained me. From then on I ate anything to survive: rats, frogs, snakes and worms. Prisoners who do not do this could die in less than a year. People like me who are able to eat anything can survive longer."
Those are the words of Kang Chol Hwan, a North Korean defector who was imprisoned in North Korea at the age of 10 because his grandfather was branded as a political dissident. Often the North Korean government will try to purge three generations of a religious or political dissidents family.
It is estimated that 200,000 are suffering in North Korean prison camps where they face cruel abuses. Some think the hermit regime has detained more political and religious prisoners than any other country in the world.
For the fourth year in a row, Open Doors 2006 World Watch List ranked North Korea as the worst violator of religious rights in the world. Christianity is observed as one of the greatest threats to the regimes power. Last fall the U.S. Department of State redesignated North Korea as a Country of Particular Concern for severe violations of religious freedom.
The living conditions in North Korea are horrific. Prices are high and people are starving. An estimated 2 to 3 million people have died over the past 10 years due to a food shortage. Also, 15 percent of all children under 5 years old are malnourished.
During North Korea Freedom Week April 22-30, Open Doors USA is partnering with North Korea Freedom Coalition (NKFC) members to focus on atrocities in North Korea, increase awareness of the conditions in that communist country and raise up prayers on behalf of those being abused and disenfranchised.
Among activities centered in Washington, D.C., are:
North Korea Genocide Exhibit on Capitol Hill April 25-30.
Wreath laying ceremony at the Korean War Memorial April 27.
North Korea Freedom Day Capitol Hill rally 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 28.
Prayer Vigil at the Chinese Embassy from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 28-29.
There are also prayer vigils planned April 28 at the Chinese consulates in Houston and Los Angles. More details will be posted later online. For more information email Lindsay Vessey, Open Doors USA Advocacy Coordinator, at lindsayv@odusa.org.
To get your church or group involved in North Korea Freedom Week, go to the Open Doors USA Web site at www.opendoorsusa.org or the NKFC Web site at www.nkfreedom.org. For a week April 24-30 Open Doors USA will provide a specific prayer focus. The focus includes: April 24 North Korean government and leader Kim Jong Il; April 25 Prisoners; April 26 Famine; April 27 Religious persecution; April 28 Refugees/Repatriation; April 29 Underground railroad/activists; April 30 Asylum. The prayer guide, along with other materials, such as bulletin inserts, are available on-line.
This is a week where we can unite to address the atrocities taking place in North Korea, says Dr. Carl Moeller, President of Open Doors USA. My heart breaks when I hear the stories of brutality and persecution coming out of North Korea. We must do all we can to raise awareness of what is happening there that is what North Korea Freedom Week is all about.
Open Doors USA is focusing on raising prayers across the United States for those suffering for their faith. Get involved and get your church or group involved. Those with no rights or freedom are counting on you. Dont let them down!
NKFC is a bipartisan coalition of religious, human rights and non-governmental Korean and American organizations whose primary purpose is to bring freedom to the North Korean people and to ensure that the human rights component of United States and world policy towards North Korea receives priority attention.
An estimated 200 million Christians worldwide suffer interrogation, arrest and even death for their faith in Christ, with another 200 to 400 million facing discrimination and alienation. Open Doors, celebrating 50 years of service to persecuted Christians, serves and strengthens the Persecuted Church in the world's most difficult areas through Bible and Christian literature distribution, leadership training and assistance, Christian community development, prayer and presence ministry and advocacy on behalf of suffering believers. Fire at U.S. military base in SKorea injures three, arson
SEOUL, South Korea
A fire at the main U.S. military base in South Korea injured three South Korean workers early Thursday and destroyed four buildings, police said. A woman was being questioned on suspicion of starting the fire as a protest against the United States.
The workers were treated for second-degree burns, said an official at the Yongsan police station who declined to give his name, citing official policy.
The fire at the Yongsan Garrison in central Seoul raged for nearly four hours before it was extinguished at 5:30 a.m. A storage house was among the buildings destroyed.
Police were questioning a 57-year-old South Korean woman found on the base. It was unclear how the suspect _ who has a record of treatment for mental disease _ managed to enter the base when all the gates were locked, police said.
The Yonhap news agency quoted the woman as telling police she started the fire with a lighter to punish the U.S. "for its terrorist activities."(snip)

Please don't encourage the shebeast. ;)
There is a report that her hubby said he actually supports her views on the ports deal and that he always did and the media was wrong, blah, blah, blah...
So, he supported the ports deal before he didn't support the ports deal all the while he lobbied on behalf of Dubai, of course. [another First Felons version of Who's On First?]
Nitwits. Why didn't they figure out how to keep them there for suspicious activity until the FBI or someone showed up to question them!! So, just because the ID may have been phoney don't bother. Sheesh Keystone Cops.
"There is no video of a second incident, around the same time of a suspicious individual who was seen sketching the Boeing headquarters building. Building security questioned that man, even took pictures of his sketch but again failed to get an ID or even a picture of him."
Hi girls, sorry to be so busy lately. Spring break time. Also putting up new curtains and getting new carpet on Friday.
Did you catch the Sears Tower incident? Check keyword Searstower, posyed by JustPiper. I don't have the link at the moment and I have to run. But, it's another stupid incident on the part of security at both buildings.

The targeted area is in the vicinity of Samarra, north of Bagdad. Many rumors still. The area is thought to be many things, a staging area for an assault on the "green zone" as well as the primary hangout for Al-Zarqawi. Additional rumors suggest that Al-Z is on the outs with the sunni's, particularly due to his open call for civil war. This combined with his glaring absence from the scene after Mujahideen Shura Council took control over AQ in Iraq makes it appear that his days are numbered and someone could have potentially ratted on him. Of course the Al-Z capture watch is on, but it is too early to tell at this stage of the operation.
An additional thing. Remember, we just busted a major attempt to infiltrate and assault the "green zone" that included 400+ AQ and some higher elements in the Iraqi government. More squealing???? The time frame and the use of an air assault make this reasonable.
Thanks for the detailed info.
Godspeed to our military.
IIRC, AC-130s were redeployed to Iraq several weeks ago. They are ideal to support this kind of mission.
