"Hundreds flee Mogadishu fighting(Battle between Warlords and an Islamic militia)"
BBC News ^ | 24 March 2006 | BBC

Posted on 03/23/2006 10:21:26 PM PST by Marius3188

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Hundreds of people have been fleeing the northern suburbs of Mogadishu after two days of heavy fighting in the Somali capital.

Doctors say at least 60 people have been killed and that the hospitals are full of injured civilians.

Residents say mortars are being used in the battle between an Islamic militia and warlords.

The warlords have accused the Islamists of sheltering foreign fighters and assassinating moderate Muslims.

The United Nations' Irin news agency quotes a doctor saying many more than 60 people may have been killed "because a lot of people are being buried where they died".

The BBC's Mohammed Olad Hassan says hundreds of residents have been forced to leave after their homes were hit by anti-tank shells and mortar rounds.

He says more than 100 armed vehicles have been deployed and more than 100 militiamen are fighting.

"Really the situation is very horrific there, many people could be seen fleeing from the area with their children on their backs and what you can see on the ground is only militiamen carrying guns from the line of fighting," he said.

Ideological differences

In February, the clan-based warlords formed an alliance to challenge the Islamic militia which is loyal to a system of Sharia courts.

The Islamic militia says it is trying to establish law and order but the warlords accuse the courts of terrorising the people of Somalia.

The dispute started near the port area, which is currently controlled by powerful businessmen."

****It's all about money and votes doncha know.*****

Yep, we do know that - and the money is offshored to top it all (tax advantages). Immigration is now "fencing" criminals? I knew there was a reason they were to busy to catch those vans of illegals that have been crashing here in the states on a fairly regular basis....(too bad they've been wrapped up searching for the least dangerous place at which to deport someone instead).

The expansion project will cost around 12 million dollars and construction officials hope to have a major portion completed by the end of this summer.

While some Katrina victims wonder where their next meal is coming from, and many are still without home or personal belongings accumulated through the years, this whim of a project will spend around 12 million dollars.

most of what I need to survive food & water wise is right outside the door :>}

If there's a nuclear or bioterrorism attack in your area, the food outside the door may become compromised. Better safe than sorry - I'd plan to stock as much food AND water as possible in a secure location.

Clinton vows to block bill criminalizing illegal immigrants

All she needs to do is keep spewing things from her mouth - her comparison of illegals to Jesus, Mary and Joseph was more than a step over the line. Her stance does NOT align with the majority of Americans.

"Report: German Firms Involved in Illegal Arms Exports to Iran"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Even as tensions simmer between Iran and the West over Teheran's nuclear program, security sources in Germany say around 100 dummy firms are illegally exporting arms to the Islamic country.

Speaking to German public broadcaster ARD on Monday, security experts confirmed that as many as up to 100 dummy firms in Germany are involved in illegally exporting components for missiles and aircraft to Iran.

Johannes Schmalzl, president of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution in the state of Baden-Württemberg, told the program "Report Mainz" that the situation wasn't entirely new. "We've been devoting time to the topic since 2002," he said. "And we've concluded that an estimated 100 dummy firms in Germany are involved in it."

Schmalzl added that the authorities could hardly keep up with the scale of illegal exports to Iran. "When I say, 100 dummy firms, you can imagine that when we discover one and the federal prosecutor opens a case against them, we're happy and pat ourselves on the back. But 99 others are still in business," Schmalzl said.

Shopping for illegal arms

The television program reported that most of the exports were designed to refine and perfect Iran's missile program, which is widely considered a key part of Teheran's ambitions to establish itself as a serious nuclear and military power. Many say it would pose a direct threat to Israel.

According to the station, for years Iran has been sending agents on shopping trips to Europe and to Germany in order to improve the reach and precision of their missiles.

Most of the Iranian spies disguised the arms exports through a maze of trade firms and distributions points both within Iran and abroad. According to German authorities, such networks served to mislead authorities and facilitate the illegal exports."

"Bitter Medicine from Dr. Bolton for Germany..."

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "According to SPIEGEL's print edition of March 20, 2006 (p. 17), due to tough U.S. resistance, Germany will get only limited access to the UN Security Council talks on Iran's nuclear program. Der Spiegel wrote the U.S. Ambassador to the UN, John Bolton, refused entry to his German counterpart Günter Pleuger to the so-called P5 talks at the UN, and he continues to persistently call EU-3 proposals "British-French proposals".
Mr. Pleuger indeed is hard to imagine as participant in any talks with the U.S. at the UN. I vividly remember his sneering, arrogant tone during the UNSC talks pre the Iraq invasion. .
I gather Mr. Bolton felt he could do without this guy's advice."

If it's nuke I'm ground zero & that's a given. I would not be able to out run the initial blast much less the fallout. I'm less than 15 miles downwind. BIO? I keep at least a month of can food and my water supply is a 180 foot well. It can pour down rain for days and I get no surface water. I also have the water that would be in my 85 gallon tank on the pump.

Thank you BurbankKarl for that list of untranslated documents and descriptions.

OPINION: If Iraq, just like Iran, kept stalling for time; I wonder what would have happened if we hadn't gone in to Iraq when we did? Well now, there is Iran and...the clock ticks away.
