Man faces death over Christianity

In the new "liberated" Afghanistan, apostacy is punishable by death according to Sharia law. Our policy makers didn't see a problem with incorporating Sharia law into the Afghani Constitution, nor into the Iraq Constitution either. From the Australia News, with thanks to Andrew Bostom.

A MAN detained by police for converting from Islam to Christianity could face the death penalty if he refused to become a Muslim again, an Afghani judge said today.
Islamic sharia law proposes the death sentence for Muslims who abandon the religion. Afghanistan's new constitution says "no law can be contrary to the sacred religion of Islam".

Supreme Court judge Ansarullah Mawlavizada said the suspect, Abdur Rahman, was arrested after members of his family informed police of his conversion.

He would be charged with abandoning Islam, Mr Mawlavizada said.

"The prosecutor says he should be executed on the basis of the constitution," Mr Mawlavizada said, who added that Mr Rahman could come back to Islam.

"If he does not ... he will be punished," he said...

Thanks for pointing that out Cindy. When I first read the article the baby walker jumped out to me as well. Most folks, at a public event, would be focused on the cute baby in the walker.

You're welcome.

I'm so sorry I have to mention this again, but there are still folks who believe that baby carriages and wheel chair/walker storage bags should not be searched. These people who feel this way are wrong.

As most LEO's around the world have noted over the years; backpacks, handbags, baby strollers, baby carriages and yes, even wheel chair storage bags have been used for shoplifting purposes, as well as for other criminal purposes.

"Iran's top dissident released from jail"

From Reuters:

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "TEHRAN - Iran's most prominent political dissident, Akbar Ganji, has been released from prison after six years behind bars for criticising some of the most powerful figures in the Islamic Republic.
Ganji, a journalist, was jailed in 2000 after writing articles linking senior officials to the serial killings of political dissidents in 1998.

His articles particularly targeted powerful cleric Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, Iran's president from 1989 to 1997.

A cheerful but thin and heavily-bearded Ganji welcomed reporters into his Tehran apartment. He stuck to pleasantries and sidestepped politics."

"A Small Victory: Georgia Refuses to Honor 'Hanoi Jane'"
March 18, 2006
Jim Kouri
by Jim Kouri, CPP

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Leave it to a Red State to do the right thing. An effort by the Georgia’s liberal-left establishment to honor actress and anti-war activist Jane Fonda for her recent charity work was defeated because of her infamous support of America’s enemies during the Vietnam war in the early 1970s.

State senators in Fonda’s adopted home state of Georgia voted 38-1 against a proclamation praising Fonda for her charity work. They were reacting to the thousands upon thousands of phone calls and e-mails demanding they not “stoop to honoring someone who willingly provided aid and comfort to the enemy.”

Many Americans continue to view her as a bona fide traitor after her widely covered trip to the North Vietnamese capital of Hanoi in 1972. While there, she donned a North Vietnamese military helmet and sat smiling ear-to-ear atop an enemy aircraft gun for all the world to see."

Weather terror tonight There are two tornados on the ground south of San Angelo Texas according to the weather underground report. More weather southwest of that heading east northeast. Not sure of the size.

Here's an interesting comment about "what impact the destruction of the vast Iraq marshes by Saddam Hussein has had on bird flu. He destroyed 90% of the marshes after Gulf War I. These marshes were a major stopping place for migtratory birds..." More at the link:

Needs to be archived on TM:

Senator Dayton: NORAD Lied About 9/11 (Excerpted)

Gens. Arnold and Myers, who testified to the Commission that same morning, (June, 2004 ) were not held to account for having presented an entirely wrong timeline a year earlier. Now that the Kean Commission has published the new timeline in its final report, these contradictions cannot be swept under the rug.

Either the Kean Commission is wrong, or else NORAD was pushing a flawed timeline for more than two years. Either way, the FAA story still differs from both.

There can be no excuses. Those responsible for dispensing false information must be held accountable, or else nothing in the behavior of government is likely ever to improve.

Instead of accountability, several of the key figures - Gens. Myers and Eberhard, FAA official Ben Sliney - have been promoted since Sept. 11! Yet one or more of them must be wrong about what happened on 9/11.

Dayton said NORAD officials "lied to the American people, they lied to Congress and they lied to your 9/11 commission to create a false impression of competence, communication and protection of the American people."
---
These are major discrepancies that beg for answers and explanations. How were they resolved? Is there a cover-up? Why was there no call for courts martial?

How could Rumsfeld, Myers and the President be left out of the loop over the 109 minutes you mentioned it took for the attacks to be carried out?

I firmly believe that baby strollers, backpacks on wheelchairs; backpacks and handbags should be searched at all public events before going into stadiums; special events and airports. Anything can be hidden in these objects.

Absolutely.

Manhattan Nuclear Nightmare
What if New York City was dirty bombed? We'll pop some pills and see the "walking dead." New Scientist.

Nuclear nightmare in Manhattan
18 March 2006 • Bruce Goldman

A TRUCK pulls up in front of New York City's Grand Central Station, one of the most densely crowded spots in the world. It is a typical weekday afternoon, with over half a million people in the immediate area, working, shopping or just passing through. A few moments later the driver makes his delivery: a 10-kiloton atomic explosion.

Almost instantly, an electromagnetic pulse knocks out all electronics within a radius of 4 kilometres. The shock wave levels every building within a half-kilometre, killing everyone inside, and severely damages virtually all buildings for a kilometre in every direction. Detonation temperatures of millions of degrees ignite a firestorm that rapidly engulfs the area, generating winds of 600 kilometres an hour.

Within seconds, the blast, heat and direct exposure to radiation have killed several hundred thousand people. Perhaps they are the lucky ones. What follows is, if anything, even worse.

The explosion scoops out a crater 20 metres across and 10 metres deep, sending thousands of tonnes of highly radioactive debris into the air as a cloud of dust. What goes up must come down, and radioactive detritus starts piling up.

Within the first hour, enough fallout settles to fatally irradiate tens of thousands of people in the immediate area. Even 20 kilometres downwind, the majority of people caught in the path of the plume are exposed to life-threatening levels of radioactivity. Anyone less than 30 kilometres downwind will need to get out or find shelter, fast. For 150 kilometres or more downwind of the blast, dangerous amounts of fallout continue to drizzle down.
