Just remembered I hadn't finished Bill's sermon. (Gag.)
The highlights:
The most important political verses in the scripture are the next to last.... (Bill must have a special spiritual advisor who researches the political verses?)
Ill never forget the conversation in 1993 with the then president of the Southern Baptist Convention...(But by God, he can't remember a lot of other stuff.)
That doesnt mean that their positions are not subject to evidence and argument and doesnt mean that you can have a bunch of people act on your behalf and pretend like you dont know em to say that the seven people who were on John Kerrys swift boat dont know what theyre talking about... (In the Gospel According to Bill, his
'positions' are not subject to evidence and argument)
It bothers me that 300,000 poor children are out of school... That bothers me. That offends my values that I learned in my church. (Not out of school, but the party of few commandments herein leaves out the "Thou shalt not lie" bit.)
You know near as I can tell from reading the scriptures, Jesus only got mad two or three times. (Translated, "I'm redeemed!")
On the security issues, Im so sick and tired Democrats are weak. (Eh tu, Bill) Hillary serves on the armed services committee. We did what we could to modernize the military and change our whole weapons structure so when we (WE??!!??) fought the conflict in Iraq we (WE??!!??) had far fewer civilian casualties in the beginning because we had more smart weapons. (Is that gramatically correct? LOL ; ) That was done through Democratic leadership, not because the Republicans were weak on defense but because nobody would knowingly not protect our young men and women in uniform. (SAY WHAT!) No one would knowingly not give America the tools it needs. (Didn't Congress JUST THIS WEEK shoot military funding in the foot?)
We dont believe in a world where our enemy is fundamentalism and hatred and absolutism...(We know you don't- believe us, Bill, we know.)
Finally, let me say that tactics matter. In 2000, John McCain was smeared here in New York for being against breast cancer research because he voted against a defense appropriations bill. (And hasn't the Left said this was a bad war. Baaaaaaad war. And hasn't Congress just willy nilly just voted against defense appropriations?)- We were told by this party thats about to show us sweetness and light in Madison Square Garden that John McCain couldnt be trusted to defend the country because he voted against the defense bill... (If the shoe, or the dress fits, Bill...)
Then in 2002, Max Cleland, who left two legs and an arm in Vietnam,(Because he dropped a grenade on his way to get a beer NOT IN COMBAT, which we all know now. But didn't stop ya'll from being good shepherds leading the sheep by using that lil' story to tell us about Max's great patriotism.) voted against the Homeland Security bill...
So Max Cleland said "I didnt leave half my body in Vietnam to come home and take away job protection from 170,000 workers that dont have to do with homeland security." (Correct, Max. You left half his body in Vietnam because he dropped a grenade.)
I ask you not to talk about them the way they so often talk about us. Dont say theyre weak and dont say theyre bad. Its wrong. Its wrong when they do it to us and we dont want to do the same to them. (LMAO, Bill!)
We want Americans to know the truth (LMAOROTF, Bill!) and we want Americans to understand the consequences of their choice. (LMAOROTFPIMP, Bill! Found that out the hard way, dincha.)
We want to lift up the trust we have in the fundamental decency and common sense and integrity...(When?)
We cant be perfect, we can just be more perfect. (SAY WHAT?!)
I like Senator Kerry. - And I like him because he doesnt pretend to have all the answers... (Got THAT right, Bill!)
There's a brilliant book out, I don't know if you've seen it, called The Wisdom of Crowds. (Translation: Skew and Use the Polls, by Bill & Hill.)
bump. will comment later.
