Jimmy Carter Urges Bush to Bring Troops Home
NewsMax ^ | 10 March 2006 | Carl Limbacher

Former President Jimmy Carter criticized the war in Iraq on Wednesday, urging a troop drawdown as the United States enters its fourth year of conflict in Iraq.

"It was a completely unnecessary war. It was an unjust war," said Carter, the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize winner. "It was initiated on the basis of false pretenses. All of those are true, but we can't just pre-emptively withdraw."

He urged the Bush administration to bring home as many troops as possible within the next 12 months.

"The violence is increasing monthly," Carter said. "My prayer is we'll see some kind of democracy eventually evolve."

His comments came at a news conference before a building dedication at the University of Washington.

Carter was the keynote speaker at the dedication of the university's new Genome Sciences and Bioengineering Building in honor of William H. Foege.

Foege directed the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention during Carter's presidency and later headed The Carter Center, which promotes peace and health programs around the world.

Carter credited Foege with saving the lives of millions of people through his efforts to eradicate smallpox, Guinea worm and river blindness, and by encouraging childhood immunization.

Foege works with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which contributed $50 million for the building.

Carter wants relevance. He has none, and knows he has none. He also has to be hopelessly envious of the fact that when he dies, there will be no national outpouring the likes of which we saw when Ronaldus Magnus sadly left us.

Has to stick in his craw. The MSM can try to pile on Reagan all they want - the truth is the country loved him and loved the way he made us feel about ourselves - a complete 180 from this idiot peanut farmer and his "misery index."

I know what you mean, RCG. Just when you think the Democrats have hit rock bottom, they manage to sink even lower.

...and I issue a call for Jimmy Carter (treasonous wretch) to "withdraw" from the USA!!! He would be muce better suited to life in Castro's Cuba, where his idiotic commie ideas would be national policy.

Jimmy... if you were in the "KNOW" you would KNOW that our troops are coming home almost weekly. My nephew will be home in 4 weeks!

Do you think he gets a prominent seat at the 2008 Dem convention?

Considering that over 65% of the country thought his behavior at the Coretta Scott King Memorial was deplorable, it is apparent that 30 years later, this imbecile still doesn't get it.

I was hoping once they gave him that Nobel he'd finally go away. But no.

Thank you, President Reagan.

You mean.... Thank you President Carter for making President Reagan a reality!... If Carter hadn't been such a blithering failure, I fear the Press would have demagogued Reagan into obscurity.

Once again, thank you Mr. Carter, you withering, embarassing imbecile.

Everyone in the MSM - they try to equate him with "Nixon" as the "elder statesman" of the Democratic Party. What the MSM doesn't get is that the country doesn't like Jimmy, doesn't want to hear from Jimmy and no matter how much they try to force Jimmy down our throats, we ain't havin' it. I doubt if Gerald Ford came out in support of the War in Iraq that it would get any press coverage.

Why aren't the media reminding people that peanuthead is a past - way past - president. He is also a traitorous aider and abettor of the terrorists.

There MUST be something more that just precedent against such odious, treasonous behavior?

At the very least, there should be a loud backlash.

What a truly little person he is -

A President taking foreign policy advice from Carter is like anybody taking swimming lessons from Ted Kennedy.

Or taking a "How to win elections" course from Bob Shrum.

Yes, please, send Jimmy Carter to the terrorists holding hostages so he can arrange their release (or whatever).

If you sit down with Michael Moore, at the Dem Convention, and embrace him (yes you need very long arms to do this)then you are just an old left wing whore with no credibility among the American people.

Sadly enough, Carter believes that he is laying down his legacy by criticizing the current administration. He is only securing his deck chair on "The ship of Fools".

He is a hell of a lot more than that... but I do not want to be banned for calling this POS what he really is. I will urinate on his headstone one day!

I used to say I was going to piss on his grave. I take that back. I am going to take a dump on his grave. I'll make sure it's a exceptionally nasty one, too.
