I've just been diagnosed with malignant carcinoid which has spread to the liver. Going for CT tomorrow to determine the extent of this thing. Please pray that we've found it in time and for my full recovery, and especially for strenght and comfort for my family.
Thank you.
May you and your family get through this tough time with a stiff upper lip and a positive attitude. It will do wonders for both you and them. You can look at this as the glass half empty or the glass half full. I prefer the latter view. Hope you can too. Best of luck to you on the results of your test and fight the good fight.
You got it. Prayers for you. Keep us posted!
Thank you for the words of encouragement.
First, I'm very happy that your brain surgery was a success.
As for your suggestion to see my glass as half full, that's what I'm working on. I was diagnosed Thursday afternoon and spent the rest of the day Thursday doing research online, which I think was a mistake, because whether it's true or not, what I read was much more discouraging than what my doctor told me.
I've decided that my CT scan results aren't even back yet, so to go back to thinking about what my doctor told me (possibility of surgical removal) than what the internet told me (no hope of removing it at this point, once it's spread to the liver), and praying for a miracle and for God's help in accepting His will, whatever it may be.
My first concern if for what my family may have to go through.
Thanks again.
Sunday prayer bump!
As someone who has been through a trying time of hospitalization, you are doing the right thing educating yourself about your condition.
My research came too late to help me. The doctors made a mistake and it cost me a year of recovery and then some. With the information I found later, I could have altered the course and things would have been much, much better.
You will need information from your doctor to make sure your search stays focused on the particular condition and situation. Get specific medical terms from him. These help in the search to make sure you are not reading unrelated information.
I found that there were several conditions similar to mine - some very much worse.
As you research, you will find online bulletin boards with people asking questions but rarely getting answers. This will be frustrating. The UCLA medical journals with case history seem to be the most informative. Try those and any other hospital associated with a University.
Also, writing to specific doctors seems to never get a response. However, I will be that here on FR you will (or may have already) received a FReepmail from a doctor that will give you specific advise. I did and it was very, very helpful (I love FR).
As for my my doctors, the first ones, they told me to get things in order, as in get my life in order, as in you don't have long. Well, happily they were wrong on that score.
Anyhow, keep up posted. We all care about our FReeper friend and offer our prayers.
FReepRegards,
BJN
