I don't understand.
If I insult you, and you express indignation at being insulted, does that mean that I was right to insult you?

This proves that they were no friends of ours in the first place and congress has done the right thing (for a change)!!! Interesting logic:
They try to make a deal, but they are not our friends.
They pull out of the deal, therefore they are not our friends.

No friends of ours??? What the hell does that mean. They are divesting themselves of US port ownership which was what the whole debate was about. Why is this a bad thing? Makes perfect sense to me and it is not an unreasonable or offensive action.

"This proves that they were no friends"
So your idea of a friendship is that it is purely a one way street, that you can insult a friend, slander their reputation, and threaten their economic interests and they should just bend over and take it? So the UAE is suppose to buy Boeing's passenger jets and give the US Navy unlimited use of its ports and we pay that back by kicking them in the a** and if they don't say "Thank you sir, may I have another?" then they're not true friends? I would suggest sir that it is the US that is not a true friend. If your idea of friendship is to screw over a friend and then declare them disloyal when they don't just sit back and take it, then I am glad we're not friends.

"This proves that they were no friends of ours in the first place and congress has done the right thing (for a change)!!! Beg to differ. The UAE has been one of the US's staunchest allies in the Persian Gulf, unafraid to support US requests. US Congressional action to do this is appalling.
The big commotion has been about security. This has nothing to do with Port Security. If security was the issue time to start background investigations on most East coast Cab Drivers and 7-11 owners/employees.

All it proves that if our congresscritters won't let them do business here they need to sell off their interests here.

What exactly did this Company do to deserve the treatment it got at the hands of our Congress and bone headed pundits?
The Congress most likely HURT our security with these actions if they drove off this ally in the Middle East.

The UAE port of Dubai has serviced more American ships than any other foreign port. Many of our planes fly in and out every day. Without Dubai our war on terror will be hampered.

I'd point out the utter ridiculousness of your reply, but it looks like a ton of Freepers beat me to it.
After reading your reply, I almost abandoned FR on the basis that there is no more intelligence here.
All the replies you received kept me grounded.
