WASHINGTON, March 9 /U.S. Newswire/ -- House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today congratulating Congressman John Murtha for receiving the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award for his brave stance on the Iraq war. The award is presented annually to public servants who have withstood strong opposition to follow what they believe is the right course of action.
"Congressman Jack Murtha is indeed a profile in courage. The conviction and bravery to speak out for what is right, even when politically dangerous or at personal cost, has characterized his entire life, and led him to deal a mighty blow of truth to the President's failed Iraq policy. Congressman Murtha stands with his constituents, with our troops, and with our country - and in doing so, he spoke truth to power about the war in Iraq. I am so proud that he has been recognized with this outstanding award."

What?? There's a traitor award?
Another formerly prestigiuos award into the crapper.
Yeah his actions were really courageous. /s
The only problem is that this jerk doesn't believe what he is saying or doing.
Named after a book JFK never wrote?
PUUUUUUUKE!!!
SICKENING!
These people are demented.
JFK would be sickened by Murtha.
About as courageous as beating up your 95 year old Grandmother.
Since when is retreating courageous?
These sick puppies need to read this.............
"Neither the United States of America nor the world community of
nations can tolerate deliberate deception and offensive threats on the
part of any nation, large or small. We no longer live in a world where
only the actual firing of weapons represents a sufficient challenge to
a nation's security to constitute maximum peril.
My fellow citizens, let no one doubt that this is a difficult and
dangerous effort on which we have set out. No one can foresee
precisely what course it will take or what costs or casualties will be
incurred. Many months of sacrifice and self-discipline lie ahead --
months in which both our patience and our will will be tested, months
in which many threats and denunciations will keep us aware of our
dangers. But the greatest danger of all would be to do nothing.
The path we have chosen for the present is full of hazards, as all
paths are; but it is the one most consistent with our character and
courage as a nation and our commitments around the world. The cost of
freedom is always high, but Americans have always paid it. And one
path we shall never choose, and that is the path of surrender or
submission.
Our goal is not the victory of might, but the vindication of right;
not peace at the expense of freedom, but both peace and freedom, here
in this hemisphere, and, we hope, around the world. God willing, that
goal will be achieved."
---- John F. Kennedy, Oct. 22, 1962
So history has been rewritten to make JFK a cut and run dove???????????? What next, the JFK award for rising taxes on the rich??????
This is like Michael Jackson getting a 'Parent of the Year' award.
The award has lost what little credibility it had left.
Bingo! If JFK were alive today,he'd be a Republican.
"We will support *any* friend, oppose *any* foe..."
"...and so,as a free man,I say 'I am a Berliner'"
Let em know how we feel here........

I am sending the JFK comments I posted and my dismay at this "award" going to Murtha over his "dissent"......

How is it courageous to take a stand *in agreement with* the majority of your own party?! If the people who decide on the award had an ounce of intelligence and were looking for a Democrat to give it to, then they should have picked Joe Lieberman!
And so was Murtha.
Democrats awarding Democrats for perfidity and cowardice.
LOL!
Lowell Weicker go this "award" for passing an income tax in the state of Connecticut.
