Carter urges troop withdrawal from Iraq

SEATTLE -- Former President Jimmy Carter criticized the war in Iraq on Wednesday, urging a troop drawdown as the United States enters its fourth year of conflict in Iraq.

"It was a completely unnecessary war. It was an unjust war," said Carter, the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize winner. "It was initiated on the basis of false pretenses. All of those are true, but we can't just pre-emptively withdraw."

Thank you. I was going to post something similar, but could not get past my personal prohibition on using the F-Bomb. Mr. Carter generally makes such pledges very difficult to adhere to.

I don't think so. He might use "draw down" which is the popular phrase of the day, but from what I gather from the rest of his statement this tyrant lover really wishes for a full withdrawal and the reinstatement of the rightfully elected Saddam Hussein. That is unless he can get Fidel or Hugo to run the country instead.

If you read the article, you will see what he says. He says we can not pre emtively withdraw. He also says, he hopes we can draw down some troops over the next 12 months. The guy's an AH but let's stick to the facts when we are discussing what his quotes are. He gives us plenty of ammo without making things up or twisting them.

WTF happened to the gentleman's agreement that a former President kept his yap shut when it came to a current administration's foreign policy? I fully expect Jimmy Crapper and The Stain to rediscover the virtues of that old policy if the Rats regain the White House in 2008. Woe be unto W if he dares to comment on anything a future Dumpacrap president says or does.

Yup.. the UN, France, Germany, Russia helped old Saddam dance the " Don't let me get my hand caught in the cookie jar waltz " for years before the USA could go in and prove and show that he had those WMD's.

Forget that Carter is the most disloyal and treasonous former President in U.S. history. Forget that Carter is nothing but a little man, still bitter after being flushed by 44 States in a 489 vote Electoral College landslide (and his flunky VP/proxy Mondale, repudiated 4 years later in a 49 State / 525 EC landslide!), forget that Carter presided over the worst economic disaster this side of the Great Depression in all of American history, forget all the many ways that Carter screwed the pooch from the day he walked into the Oval Office, to the blessed day he finally was ushered out.

Consider the illogic of Carter's most recent utterances:

Jimmy Carter promotes himself and his mythical legacy as being some sort of burning torch for the cause of human rights, right? Forget about his cozying up to the likes of Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, Arafatrat, Kim Jong ILL, etc.

Carter says he is for human rights.

So how does Carter justify his criticism of the liberation of Iraq? If he opposed the liberation, that means he believed in maintaining the status quo of Saddam Hussein, and keeping over 26 million men, women and children in tyranny, under the boot of Saddam and his two depraved sons Uday and Qusay? Is that what Carter believes?

If he truly believes that the libration of Iraq was illegal and immoral, why is he not assisting Saddam's legal team? After all, isn't the reinstatement of Saddam the most logical goal if one takes the position that the U.S. action was illegal?

Carter's lack of any logic whatsoever and his flagrant hypocrisy is both appalling and astounding.

Even advanced dementia could not serve as an excuse for such absurd babblings.

So his support of the Dubai port deal was an anomaly and I can go back to my standard "STFU, Jimmuh!" Great, I thought the world was coming to an end there for a moment.

Bill Clinton helped Dubai on ports deal

Bill Clinton, former US president, advised top officials from Dubai two weeks ago
on how to address growing US concerns over the acquisition of five US container terminals by DP World.
It came even as his wife, Senator Hillary Clinton, was leading efforts to derail the deal.

Now that we are so close to winning, what would we gain by reducing our force, Rep. Murtha?

Isn't there some tennis court in Georgia that we can give to former President Carter to schedule use of? That's about the only thing he did well during his presidency.

It's not about Clinton. The president has to walk a narrow line between 1) convincing the Muslim world that this is a War on Terror as opposed to a War on Islam and 2) maintaining national security. He's really in a Catch-22, since he really can't explain this logic publicly for fear of showing his hand to the Muslim world. The west cannot afford to fight 1.2 billion Muslims now, so the best hope is to "divide and conquer." To that end, the president is going after the more radical elements of Islam (terrorists) with the WOT now with the hope of westernizing future generations of Muslims given the time and access to do so. In the mean time he needs to encourage the more moderate Islamic nations (like UAE)and treating them fairly in trade is one way to do that. This strategy is truly our only hope unless we're prepared to engage in mass genocide. The Muslim culture is not easily assimilated into a western society, so this will be a supremely difficult challenge. If we can't figure out how to do this, we're doomed to death, dhimmitude (this is already happening in Europe), or a lot of innocent blood on our hands.
