So what orders will be given to these AZ guard troops?

They will do the same thing that NG troops at the border do now. They'll conduct inspections at POEs, they'll assist DPS in monitoring traffic for stolen vehicles, they'll fill out paperwork, and they may assist in running illegals through the ID check system.

I seriously doubt that any of them will be involved in protecting the border in between Ports of Entry. The Governor is sending in the NG as augmentees so that the BP can move out along the border.

In the invaded state of Arizona, someone had to, though she probably doesn't like it.

WHY hasn't the great hero McCain spoken out in defense of Arizonans? He remains deaf and dumb to this huge problem.

This is the same troll governor that
1. Fought against Prop. 200.
2. Would not enforce Prop. 200 until forced to.
3. Still is against the wall at the border.
4. Vetoed the same English-learners bill she approved of before (because the legislature wanted checks on how the money was spent)
5. Wants Uncle to finance NG troops at the border, yet the state legislature wants to finance even more troops using part of the state tax surplus.
6. Presides over a state with one of the highest crime rates and a CPS system that has killed kids.

No, they're going to work. As I said, they're augmentees to free up Customs and Border Protection officers for line duty along the border.

There are over 300 miles of border between the two Ports of Entry in the Tucson sector - 300 miles that are the busiest crossing area in the nation, and with way too few officers to control it.

They catch nearly a thousand illegals a night, and estimate that anywhere from 3 to 10 times that many make it through.

I have a feeling those national guard troops won't be doing much of anything at the border, and they certainly won't be arresting any illegal immigrants. To say that Napolitano is seizing this issue is probably a huge overstatement. This looks like an expensive political stunt for the AZ taxpayers like me.

We'll see how many BP agents are actually freed up by the national guard deployment. This needs to be covered closely and in detail by conservative media.

You're probably right. Anything a politician says about wanting border security is a lie.

Here in invaded California, our governor sits with his lips sealed about this subject. He's too busy raising money for his re-election.

Not the slightest chance of that happening. The last thing on earth that Janet wants is for pictures of her soldiers arresting Mexicans to show up in the media. Those soldiers won't go anywhere near any Mexicans, not even drug smugglers.

As discussed in post #16, the Dems may have just shot themselves in the foot here and put themselves in a no-win situation.

But, they're doing more than the Republicans have done (except a valiant few in the House).
