Gay/Lesbian Activists Sprinkle Downtown Boise With "Heteros Only" Stickers

BOISE - Stickers saying "Heterosexuals Only" were placed on bus benches and public drinking fountains in downtown Boise and at the Statehouse Monday morning.

A group of gay and lesbian activists, who spoke to KBCI-Local 2 News on condition of anonymity, put up the 150 stickers to protest the legislature's passage of a proposed constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage in Idaho, which voters will face in November.

"This was an issue we cared a great deal about," one activist told Local 2 News. "It affects us personally, it affects friends and family of ours."

The group says it used the "Heterosexuals Only" stickers to symbolize "Whites Only" and "Colored Only" stickers from past discrimination in the history of the American civil rights movement.

"In the struggle for human rights, an iconic image of that struggle has been signs that exclude classes of people," an activist said. "You know, 'Whites Only' on drinking fountains, or blacks to the back of the bus."

The group also said it selected Monday March 6 because it was the anniversary of the 1965 Selma to Montgomery march during the civil rights struggle.

Boise police reported no incidents or arrests, although the gay and lesbian activists said they were prepared to be taken into custody.

"You could make the case we were littering, or doing something more aggressive," an activist said. "Realistically, we have to be worried because there is some risk. I think we all have come together and decided the risk is worth taking a stand. I hope people will realize this...is a model of resistance that falls into a historical basis and they won't decide to be extremely punitive."

At the Statehouse, some legislative leaders disapproved not only of the way the group chose to express its message, but they also said the message itself is wrong.

"Because I think everybody has the same rights here in Idaho and we're not taking any body's rights away," said Sen. Bob Geddes, (R) Soda Spring, president pro tem of the Idaho Senate.

The stickers were easily removed, and were up only a short time. The gay and lesbian activists hope their symbolic message lasts longer.

The advocates of homosexual behavior keep trying to shoehorn their cause into the same category as the black struggle for civil rights in Anerica, but there just isn't enough KY Jelly to do it. The black pastors I've heard on the subject 'aint buying it!

'Heteros Only'

Means about 99.9% of the population will be very comfortable sitting on the benches.

I see. When gays a lesbians do this, it is "activism." When straights do this, it is "hate speech."

Your comment reminds me of the time my family went on a nice Carribbean cruise. After we embarked we learned that the prior cruise of the ship was a chartered "nudists only" cruise! Kinda made ya think every time you touched anything....

The refugees from California, Oregon and Washington are making their way east; bringing all the healthy goodness from which they fled.

Increased taxes are just around the corner.

Not a bad idea. Wonder if they placed any in the bus station restrooms?

Stickers saying "Heterosexuals Only"

Excellent! Who'd want to sit on a bench after a homo anyway? Seriously. Ew! Their clothes would stick to that brown stuff!
Or drink from the same fountain after knowing where the homos mouths have been and what they've (ack!) just eaten! EWWWWWW.

I hope those stickers catch on. Normal people would feel so much better about the places they visit.

"In the struggle for human rights, an iconic image of that struggle has been signs that exclude classes of people,"

They so desperately wish they were actually discriminated against. What bothers them the most, I think, is that nobody really gives a rat's a__ about them or where they stick their body parts. They have a martyr complex that seems to run even deeper than their fetishisms.

"Gay protests continue to be insulting by comparing their perversion to the Black struggle for equal rights."

No kidding. I find that offense, too.

My sister is a lesbian. She also works for "Action Wisconsin" which is the most OBNOXIOUS group of homo-agenda pushers you'd ever want to meet. We The People of Wisconsin will be voting in November to amend our state constitution to keep "marriage" between one man and one woman. Gay marriage in our state is already illegal, but this change will keep the activist judges at bay...for now, anyway. Sis tells me Action Wisconsin will be spending $3 million dollars campaigning between now and then.

Of course, it's a hate-based, hetero-bashing "for the children" campaign, so it should be pretty interesting to see what they come up with. *Rolleyes*

I tell her to STFU on a regular basis. She already has every RIGHT I do as a citizen of the USA. She doesn't deserve any "special rights" due to her sexual preference as far as I can see. ;)
