Yeah, but it's a pretty sad indictment of our society when one seriously has to consider packing when going to see a movie, or to a mall, or whatever. Please read the essay on my FR profile page: On Wolves, Sheep, and Sheepdogs.
You'd better be armed EVERY time you leave your house. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Perhaps a sign that gun laws in this country are working well enough that others are turning to edged weaponry? Additionally, look at some of the places where these events transpired: New Jersey, Texas, Florida... Texas and Florida, given their hispanic population booms, I can understand. But New Jersey? Perhaps it's not a coincidence that NJ has some really strict gun laws? Just a thought. Take it FWIW.

We must welcome the quaint social customs of our new "Gold Card Semi-Citizens." At least two quick and simple solutions come immediately to mind.

I think it's because they are illegals and can't buy guns legally, and are leery of buying them on the black market, because they suspect it might mean quick deportation if they are picked up while carrying. OTOH, a machete can be explained away as a "yard work tool." Until it's choppin' time.

What size Ontario do you recommend for general field work/limbing etc? Anything in particular I should look for?
To: green iguana
18" blade is by far the most common and also the best size.

Revere, Everett, Lynn and Chelsea have banned machetes, and there is now a bill before the Massachusetts Senate that would prohibit the carrying, sale and manufacture of the tool-turned-weapon."
Yep, that'll do it.
Politicians are such morons.

Back when I used to work in Panama, I bought a machete from a Palestinean Christian who owned a store near the old port. I was able to bring it into the U.S. with no questions asked. Then again, this was pre-9/11.

You have a much better chance of winning Powerball than of being attacked by a machete-weilding gang-banger.That depends are where you happen to be standing at the moment. If you are in downtown Pocatello, I will agree with you. If you are wandering around late at night in an MS-13 controlled neighborhood in Fairfax County, the odds are very different.

Ms-13, Ms-13, Keep cropping up don't they.
Rather than ban Salvadoran gangs, deport/imprison the attackers, and close the borders, we should divest ourselves of another tool?
That is where this is headed.
Sheesh! Add to the list of BIG eeevils, 'BIG' knives.

I wonder if Glock, or someone else, will develop a non-metallic machete that will elude metal detectors. Perhaps one made out of whatever B-2 bombers are made out of. Or fiberglass....Hey, 1-800-invention, listen to this....Kyocera makes some fine ceramic knives that would fit the bill.

The surrounding towns of Revere, Everett, Lynn and Chelsea have banned machetes, and there is now a bill before the Massachusetts Senate that would prohibit the carrying, sale and manufacture of the tool-turned-weapon.Maybe someday they will outlaw assault and murder too. By then the books will be loaded with laws prohibiting every imaginable object that could be used as a weapon.

Ain't that the truth! Go P2000 Go!Heh... I have a P2000 issued to me, but I still have my Glock 17 -- one of the benefits of working for the armory LOL...
Anyway, I like that the Glock carries more ammo (see my tagline), but the P2000 conceals better and leaves bigger holes.
Decisions, decisions.

My personal weapon is a Glock 23. Two weapons, same ammo, twice the fun!
