A little food for thought:

Shahab 6

The Shahab-6 is expected to have a range of 5,470-5,500 and 5,632-6,200 kilometers with a 1,000-750-500 kilogram warhead. This range capability will depend on the number of stages used in the launch vehicle and their performance. December 1996 news reports claimed that Iran is developing a 3,500-mile (5,632 kilometers) range missile called Shahab-6 that would be capable of reaching Europe.

Moscow: 1529 miles (2461 km) (1329 nautical miles)

Beijing: 3482 miles (5603 km) (3026 nautical miles)

Tokyo: 4766 miles (7671 km) (4142 nautical miles)

Mason City, Iowa: 6565 miles (10565 km) (5705 nautical miles)

... let me see if I can find a map... it's a poor one, for older missiles, but gives an idea of the area, and number of countries under the gun:

I have no doubt that given sufficient time and help, Iran can develop a usable nuke.
An accurate delivery system is something entirely different.
Unless the Russians, the French or the Germans do it for them.

So far, we remain out of the envelope for land based missiles. But if they are launched via cargo ship, all bets are off. If they are simply brought into the country on a yacht like drugs, all bets are off. Missiles aren't the only means of delivery of a nuclear strike, as we well know. A white cargo van with a top ladder rack might do nicely. So would a small airplane.

The only sure bet is Iran can do us more domestic damage with these weapons than we have sustained since the Civil War. They need to be stopped. Now.
