In spite of everything that worthless liberal rag, the Houston Chronicle, could do, it looks as though Tom Delay will prevail. Oh well, they still have seven months to trash him and try to punch up the Democrat corpse, Lampson.

Dude, 64% in a three-way is utterly huge.

You might want to wait on your happy dance. Only 10% of the vote is in.

But he is winning by similar margins in each county so it should be representative. Besides, it is not like a general election where you might only have heavily Democratic precints returns distorting the results.

Hope this trend continues with a big victory for DeLay!

DeLay, I expect will win the primary. And, then, keep his congressional seat.

After he's back for a new session of congress, we republicans, especially those here at FR, should help to rehabilitate him enough to get him back at a leadership position in the house, preferably as Speaker of the House.

LOL.. and tomorrow the Dems will say -- "this is exactly the result we wanted. We can beat Tom Delay like a rented puppy in the general. We knew the Republicans wouldn;t have the guts to depose him and run a candidate that would threaten us. They played right into our hands by backing Delay."

No way could Tom lose this primary with three candidates splitting the anti-DeLay vote.

In fact, some candidates have even been known to set up one or more ringers to run against them.

Of course, this is unknown in Texas, heheh.

Go, Tom!

I suppose macine style politics have now taken hold in Texas. Considering many issues, real or fake, with Tom Delay, the percentage of the vote for him is impressive.

No, actually, Earle's wet dream would be DeLay winning the primary and losing the general, which is the biggest fear.

I'm marginally in favor of DeLay, and I do think he's innocent of Earle's charages (although the Abramoff stuff gives me some pause), but I mostly just want to keep the seat in our column. If DeLay is the nominee, I hope he wins, but it does seem to me he's going to have some trouble hanging on.

Latest has the Hammer polling at 67%:

"In congressional races, the legal travails of Rep. Tom DeLay, R-Sugar Land, did not seem to affect his popularity in Houston-area District 22 as he was polling 67 percent. His next-closest competitor among three other Republicans was lawyer Tom Campbell, who had 24 percent. DeLay will face Democrat Nick Lampson, who lost his Beaumont-based district after redistricting, in the November election."

The Chronicle urged a vote for Tom Campbell in their lead editorial today. Of course, we know they're on the Lampson bandwagon for November, but their hatred of DeLay is beyond irrational.
