Not the Aussie sheilas' fault if the bloody Ugandans can't control themselves!
To: Aussie Dasher
That is probably good advice for any athletes and any girls.

Only the feminist types. Then again, they're offended by most things...

Atuhaire, from Kampala, swam in the heats for the 100m breaststroke during the Sydney Games You could see that one coming a mile away.

Only the feminist types. Then again, they're offended by most things... That's because they're not sheilas.

I did the Southern Gentleman thing on R&R in '68, she ripped my clothes off and wanted to bear my kids, Oz is a strange place, at that time.

Shelia schmelia. You get this big sweaty "person" all next to you and what oh what may happen.Women ,girls just want what they want.Sure they'll get the "vapors" while their guy goes off and gets shot up.Very naive and available later amongst brutes. Some.

Are aussie women offend by the term sheila?I don't know about them being offended but the very first time I heard the expression, I knew exactly what it meant and I've never even been to Australia.
It pops an image into my mind and I get it.

Agree. It was good advice and any time I am outside the US regardless of what country it is, I remind myself to be on my very best behavior. There ain't no Bill of Rights anywhere else.
Bottom line: Don't do stupid things in other peoples houses.

You are familar with the origin of the term, are you not? Sort of interesting. This site gives a pretty decent description: http://www.members.tripod.com/~taramc/sheelas.html The Wikipedia article is pretty good, too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheila-na-gig
I can't imagine why self-respecting woman would be offended by being called a sheila./sarc

Fair point you raise.
BTW, what's with all the reading in of meanings to the term "sheila"?
A sheila is a woman. A bloke is a man. Very straight forward.

BTW, what's with all the reading in of meanings to the term "sheila"?Frankly, your term "sheila" is better than our term, "chick." If you think about it.
