Police are questioning a southeast Houston man who fatally shot a suspected robber early Tuesday during an apparent home invasion.
The homeowner, who was not injured, found two armed men dressed in black about 3:30 a.m. after pulling into the garage of the house in the 9500 block of Almeda Pines.
The accused robbers forced open the back door and began shooting at the homeowner in the living room. He returned fire, police said, fatally striking one of the men who collapsed and died in the back yard.
The other man fled the scene. Police said the homeowner is licensed to carry a concealed weapon.

Need I say the obvious. The robbers begain to fire first. The homeonwer was able to defend himself because, among other things, Texas issues concealed carry licenses.

You don't have to have a concealed carry license to defend yourself, inside your home, with a legal firearm here in Texas.
You just have to shoot straight.

Let this be a lesson to all you folks who've been slacking off on the range time ... only hits really count. The good guy is alive and uninjured because the bad guys couldn't hit the broadside of a barn.

As usual, the perps are clothed in newspaper coddling terms of; accused, suspected, apparent, etc. Well, I think the good guys should be given the same consideration.
From now on we should read; suspected homeowner, apparently fatally shot, apparently fatally striking one, and nothing at all about any concealed carry license status.
Gee! That would be as silly as how the press & courts coddle the perps.

I hope number two is found dead from his wounds. Otherwise, we will have to wait for some other straight shooter to bring him justice - Texas style.

Beware of the Harris County DA office. They will indict a "ham sandwich" to get a conviction. Pray for the man!!!!

Well done, I say to the homeowner! He's probably just saved some innocent lives in the future--or at least their property--as this story filters through the criminal community.

I meant to say "pray for the homeowner (the shooter)" Harris County (Houston, TX) DA office loves to indict people and get convictions.
