Merrill Keiser |
A Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in Ohio wants to make homosexual behavior a capital crime punishable by the death penalty.
Merrill Keiser Jr. is a trucker with no political experience, but he hopes to beat fellow Democrat Rep. Sherrod Brown in the May primary. The winner will try to unseat Republican incumbent Sen. Mike DeWine, assuming he wins the GOP primary.
"Just like we have laws against murder, we have laws against stealing, we have laws against taking drugs we should have laws against immoral conduct," Keiser told WTOL-TV in Toledo.
Keiser, 61, says he's running as a Democrat because that's how he was registered the last time he voted.
The trucker, who hails from Fremont, Ohio, says there needs to be more adherence to biblical values in government, business and education something he claims DeWine is not promoting.
"I believe that the United States has been moved in a Godless direction by the courts," he told the Sandusky Register. "To get good men on the court, we need good senators."
Some of Keiser's other positions include defense of the Second Amendment, securing U.S. borders, lower taxes to stimulate the economy, support of Israel and prayer in public schools.
Keiser told the Register the United States should make conversion to Christianity part of the war on terror to teach Muslims the error of their choice in religion.
The candidate also decries evolution, saying it is contrary to the Declaration of Independence.

Its fun watching these nuts go over the top. At the same time, it's pretty pathetic that he can't even comprehend the basic 10 commandments.

God calls us to obey the laws ourselves, not to punish those who don't.

You are in favor of making Old Testament Law the supreme law of the land in the USA?
You want to kill homosexuals AND children who curse their parents.
Do you really want to do that?

Its funny that that in the second book of Moses (Exodus) we have the Ten Commandments and in the third book of Moses (Leviticus) we find that selective points of reference - you can't pick and choose.

If he were completely, 100% serious about all of those positions, and implemented them to the best of his ability, and if he succeeded in doing so, he would wipe out somewhere in the range of 80% - 90% of the population of the state of Texas before the Federal government stepped in with troops to take back the state and killed another few percent.
Give the man a knife and let him loose in a field full of cows so he can get some of that bloodlust out of his system.

I'm absolutely in favor of strengthening Judeo-Christian values, but I realize that in a toxic culture driven by hedonism that it may come as shock to people such as yourself. The Old Testament make up about three-quarters of the bible and Christ said he was here to fulfill that law.

Aren't modern-day people, who wear both wool and cotton together, picking and choosing what in Leviticus to follow and what not?

Its amazing how you have an abortion holocaust and people find it upsetting that a primary candidate is calling for the death penalty for sodomites.

In comment 32, you mentioned killing those who curse their father or mother. Thus far, you've adovcated killing percentage points of the US population and children. I doubt seriously you would be so bold were Christ physically standing next to you. One can imagine the look of horror that would overtake His face as you rattled off the list of men, women, and children you'd like to kill.

So killing homosexuals and kids who curse their parents would "strengthen Judeo-Christian values."
Is that what you are saying? (or are you going to back off of that now?)
To: Mr. Brightside
Does he also use Leviticus to advocate the death penalty for children who curse their parents? Trigger finger -- LOL...
I suggest you reread the article. The dummycrat is the one advocating 'killing' in an attempt to ridicule and disparage the Reublican for not being 'biblical' enough...
It is a typical leftist and or morally liberal argument to quote Leviticus to attempt to moral relatively legitimate or justify the immoral and or illegitimate...

No, that's sort of line you used is popular, but it originates from people who haven't studied the Book of Leviticus. Like lawyers in courts all over this country, you'll find people that lie with every breath they take and twist every thing around - deceit confusion, etc.

So we need to protect the child while it's in the womb, but if it curses its parents a couple years after it's born we may just have to kill it?

Deuteronomy 21:18-21 contains what is, perhaps, the most vilified law of the Old Testament. It is widely believed that this law authorizes the stoning of children who disobey their parents. Accordingly, this law is used to prove how harsh, severe, and unworkable Old Testament law is in "the New Testament age of love and grace." When theonomists advocate the use of the case laws as the standard for ethics and civil law today, often one of the first remarks they hear is something like, "So you advocate the stoning of children who disobey their parents." The supposition is that by merely referring to this "harsh" law, they have proven that the theonomic view is absurd and cannot possibly be the standard for Christians today. Detractors of theonomy believe that the mere mention of the law of "stoning children" in Deuteronomy 21:18-21 will silence the theonomist, and prove to all thinking Christians that these "cruel" Old Testament case laws should not govern our lives in this "age of grace."
But as with most attacks on theonomic ethics, this objection to the use of the Old Testament case laws is based on a shallow reading of the law, a misunderstanding of the actual case law requirement,1 and an attachment to sentimental impulses as opposed to a commitment to the high ethical provisions of Biblical law.2 When this case law, which applies the moral law of the Fifth Commandment to a specific circumstance, is understood it will prove to be "holy, just, and good," a delight to the heart of God's true people (Rom. 7:12, 22).
This law is given in the standard case law formulation of "if . . . then." The genius of the case laws is that they establish justice (or duty) in a specific case so as to enable us to know how to proceed (act righteously) in all such related cases. The particular case at hand involves a "stubborn and rebellious" son who will not heed the admonitions of his parents, nor submit to their discipline (v. 18). It is vital to proper interpretation and application that the precise nature of the case be ascertained.
