Democrat for Senate: Kill practicing 'gays'

Merrill Keiser |
A Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in Ohio wants to make homosexual behavior a capital crime punishable by the death penalty.
Merrill Keiser Jr. is a trucker with no political experience, but he hopes to beat fellow Democrat Rep. Sherrod Brown in the May primary. The winner will try to unseat Republican incumbent Sen. Mike DeWine, assuming he wins the GOP primary.
"Just like we have laws against murder, we have laws against stealing, we have laws against taking drugs we should have laws against immoral conduct," Keiser told WTOL-TV in Toledo.
Keiser, 61, says he's running as a Democrat because that's how he was registered the last time he voted.
The trucker, who hails from Fremont, Ohio, says there needs to be more adherence to biblical values in government, business and education something he claims DeWine is not promoting.
"I believe that the United States has been moved in a Godless direction by the courts," he told the Sandusky Register. "To get good men on the court, we need good senators."
Some of Keiser's other positions include defense of the Second Amendment, securing U.S. borders, lower taxes to stimulate the economy, support of Israel and prayer in public schools.
Keiser told the Register the United States should make conversion to Christianity part of the war on terror to teach Muslims the error of their choice in religion.
The candidate also decries evolution, saying it is contrary to the Declaration of Independence.

Moses did more than advocate such a position, but some might argue that AIDS is doing the job these days.

Is there anything that the DUmmies think ISN'T part of a Rovian sinister plot? Hell, they could probably connect my decision to order a dark roast over medium roast, and my subsequent decision to put half-and-half instead of whole milk in it, to some Rovian machination.

The point is, only God is to judge. We lock people up or execute them if the are an immediate threat but we let sinners keep on sinning most of the time. It's part of the whole free will thing. Our job is to get them on the right path, not to kill them.

I'm pretty sure no gays were sentenced to execution in 1956.

I've yet to see a conservative politician advocate the killing of 10million+ Americans. Usually it's liberals who get excited about mass death. I do seem to recall someone else who wanted state-mandated death of this scale during the 1940s...

You're understanding of the Christian religion is quite troubling. I could remind you of the destruction of Sodom & Gomorrah, or perhaps when the apostle Paul said homosexuals and other sinners will not inherit the Kingdom of God, or perhaps I could just remind you of Christ's repeated warning of the hell fire that awaited those many do not repent, or finally the words of Christ - those who obey the law and keep the commandments will be called the greatest in heaven.

I (and many other theologians) will argue that many times in the Bible when "death" is referred to it means spiritual death, not simply death of the flesh. No person who is blessed will ever "die" so when it's referred to you must first infer the meaning of eternal damnation.

Your understanding is equally troubling. Christ said to love one another as he has loved us. Perhaps in some other universe, love means murder, but not in this one.

All the things which you mention are judgments of God, not of man. We are all sinners, and we all have the ability to repent. It's that fact that makes me or anyone else who believes that a Christian. I also believe that it's my job to help sinners in that direction without passing judgment. Only when they themselves pass judgment on them can they ask to be forgiven.
