The only new addition is the minor's mandatory introductory course, offered for the first time this quarter...I don't even want to know what that might involve.

Well according to the Queers you don't have to be taught any of this you are born to know you are queer..Now which is it..learning how to become a queer or already knowing you are a queer..If people don't stop their young people from attending this college they are fools..

This is a fairly old story, is it not? I could have sworn I saw this posted about three weeks ago.
Oh well, DePaul goes down for academic diversity I see.

Here's what I don't understand.
It's perfectly legitimate to offer courses in human sexuality (coded for Hum Bio, Psych and Anthro), perhaps including upper-level coursework focusing on same-sex attractions; in how societies "deal with" gay sexual orientation (Sociology, Anthro, History); etc.
So what I fail to understand is why a specific "Queer Studies" realm is needed. Someone wishing to focus on that -- perhaps for solid reasons, perhaps for silly ones -- can petition for an Individually Designed Major and pick accordingly.
The answer is: The very creation of the "department" (or the availability of Queer Studies as a "standard" minor), is a sop to the forces of PC on campus.

Students at DePaul University in Chicago, the largest Catholic university in the United States, can minor in Queer Studies through their College of Liberal Arts and Sciences as of this year. Wow, I did not realize the market for Restroom Attendants was large enough to support this.

why have a homo study class, why not just study the bible?

Let known homosexuals into the priesthood in the 60s, you wind up with high level homosexuals in positions of power in the 90s and 2000's.... so what was once inconcievable is not encouraged.... The American Roman Catholic Church MUST PURGE ITS RANKS OF THESE FOLKS IMMEDIATELY.... no longer letting them in is NOT an acceptable solution.
They must be purged if the church is to remain viable, relevant and not a mockery of itself.

I think somebody should rat them out to Pope Benedict.
They could use a few inquisitors or Templars to straighten out their warped thinking there.

over the weekend it was reported that Yale U officials said about recruiting the Taliban ..."we lost one already to Harvard and we'll not let that happen again...."
I would like to know what was the name of the terrorist recruited by Harvard...

I'm not sure why Catholic universities continue to marginalize one of their selling points. There are plenty of people out there who still want to attend a school that adheres to some sort of moral standard.

Haven't a few colleges lost their Catholic status recently for things such as this?
