GOPER'S LIBERAL DOSE (wannabe RINO challenger in Hillary mold)
NY POST ^ | March 7, 2006 | FREDRIC U. DICKER

Posted on 03/07/2006 7:45:29 AM PST by Liz

EXCLUSIVE ALBANY - The newly announced Republican challenger to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton wrote a confidential memo describing herself as a pro-abortion, pro-gay rights, pro-stem-cell research, "social liberal" who is not a member of an "evangelical" church.

The politically explosive campaign-strategy memo, a copy of which was obtained by The Post, was written by Kathleen Troia McFarland, a wealthy Park Avenue resident and former Reagan-era Pentagon aide. "I believe in a woman's right to choose, stem-cell research and full civil rights for gays. Our family worships in the Episcopal Church, but we are not evangelical," wrote McFarland, who announced yesterday that she would challenge former Yonkers Mayor John Spencer, an anti-abortion social conservative, in the GOP primary for the right to take on Clinton.

State Conservative Party Chairman Michael Long said.............."This memo eliminates any possibility of her gaining any support whatsoever from Conservative Party leaders or, for the most part, any conservative Republicans," Long, who backs the anti-abortion and socially conservative candidate former Yonkers Mayor John Spencer........

Spencer has branded McFarland an "elitist liberal."

McFarland, a political neophyte who lives in Manhattan and in Southampton with her investment-banker husband, Alan McFarland - the managing partner of McFarland, Dewey & Co. - bragged in the memo that she could raise large sums of campaign cash from a "wide circle" of wealthy friends and from "bulging Rolodexes" of potential supporters. "Our family ZIP code, 10021, contributes more personal money to both Democratic and Republican candidates than any other ZIP code in the country," she wrote.

We shouldn't deceive ourselves. Babylon will not elect a conservative, at least not in the near future.

I think a person like her considers running for a public office simply as an amusing personal hobby so one day she can brag: "Hey look, I've run for a public office too!"

No kidding, they get a big giggle at it on the limosine party circuit in NYC, kinda like getting a new 3 c diamond or a new Van Gogh.

Babylon once elected James Buckley (Bill Buckley's brother), of the conservative party beating the liberal Republican Jacob Javits and the democrat in the race.

Is is just me, or is there something screwy going on with McFarland's campaign finances? What's with all the refunds?

I wasn't impressed with her interview on Good Morning America this morning and am less impressed now learning how she desperately tried to stretch the truth.

Ok lets take off the gloves and talk some hard truths about K.T. McFarland and her "entry" into the race for senate in New York State. This is phony attempt by George Pataki the rino governor of New York to derail John Spencer and see that Hillary Clinton gets no real opponent.

The reason why John Spencer is having a hard time nailing down the New York State GOP nomination is because George E. Pataki doesn't want him to get it.

Pataki has this stupid notion that HE, GEORGE E. PATAKI the failed rino governor of a state that is about to become mexifornia East, can be ( drum roll and please sit down ) President of the United States! Yes the head of New York's rino heard actually, really, no B.S. thinks he can win a series of GOP primaries and get the top spot, or at least enough to get some dope to name him VP.

To do this Pataki needs money. There is only so much GOP money in New York, and no more. Consequently, if Pataki can engineer a senate race in which the Republicans run a dead body like this fraud McFarland, no one will contribute to her and they will give their money to Pataki.

If he had his way and thought he could get away with it, Pataki would see to it that Hillary Clinton ran unopposed. Since he can't do that he is doing the only thing he can: hold back John Spencer. Pataki and the rest of the New York rino heard, are afraid of the name Clinton. Spencer is not afraid of Clinton.

Spencer will give her the fight of her life. The "experts" are completely overlooking this race. They have no understanding of John Spencer.

Yes, I am a strong supporter of John's, but the fact is that when you have a Clinton running now and maybe later on one side and a warrior that is not afraid of Clinton or her name on the other, how can this not be the most exciting race in the country?

John will have the money to fight this fight. He has the same fund raiser that generated 40 million dollars for Rick Lazio in just 5 1/2 months. That was six years ago when people only THOUGHT they knew how dangerous a Hillary Clinton presidency would be. She only got 55%. If you think that was big, you are not watching carefully enough.

The left thinks they now have the right candidate to run against in John Spencer. They think they can run two campaigns with opposite aims at the same time. I don't. I don't think it took more that a sharp college kid to get Hillary Clinton elected with a big 55% in a state like New York in 2000, with NO real press conferences. Howie Wolfson is no political genius. Neither is she.

John Spencer had two children with an aide he is now married to, before he was divorced from his first wife.
There is, however, more to the story. John was privately, but not legally, separared from his first wife for years before his eventual second wife came into his life.

Some people have been questioning this part of Spencer's resume. What I have just said is the answer. Neither he nor anyone else has ever made any claims to be a better or worse person because of how his two middle children came into this world. It has nothing to do with his ability to lead or vote as a true conservative in public matters.

Will John win? We'll see.

He will get at least the same 46% that John Fasso did. Fasso was the last unflinching Republican to run statewide. He got the old Reagan Democrats out. He got conservative Republicans out and he got members of the Conservative Party to come out and vote for him. He also got the Right to Life people out. Spencer appeals to all of those groups and now Hillary is ten times scarier.

How can this not be the top race this year?

That was in 1970. NY also elected D'Amato for in the 1980s (and went for Ronald Reagan twice, I believe.) Times are very different now. The permanent adolescents have taken over Manhattan.

You're probably right. But I still think Hillary can be beaten. And if she ever was, it would not be by a moderate. It would be by a staunch conservative who would challenge her socialist views. Moderates by nature don't like to challenge anything.

This is pretty interesting though. If McFarland does win the nomination, she might force Clinton to move further to the left during her Senate campaign which might hamper her 2008 bid for President. I think its a pipe dream that a Republican can win a Senate seat in NY, so why not inflict as much damage to Clinton as possible for 2008? Just a thought.

Because a moderate will never succeed in pushing a liberal further to the left. A moderate will just nod her head and just say me-too, leaving Clinton looking like the leader (because moderates don't lead). We've had enough dime-store New Dealers.

From the way she is claiming she can get money from her friends it seems to me she would take money from Republican friends who should be giving that money to Spencer.

Typical RINO----no party loyalty. Remember when Rudy Guiliani was Mayor (before 911)? Rudy a Republican, endorsed radical liberal Democrat governor--Mario Cuomo--over Cuomo's Repub opponent--Pataki, who won.

Rudy selfishly figured thought it was in "his best interests" to have a Democrat in Albany when he decided to run. Then came 911 and now Rudy thinks he's (gag) presidential material.

As Mayor Rudy looked the other way when his patronage appointee Russell Harding --Liberal Party honcho Ray Harding's son, now in jail for government fraud----was stealing from the city's Housing Development Corp. and enjoying kiddie porn and gay vacations with his gay pals on the taxpayers dime.

Any presidential candidate who chooses to be aligned with the forces of Christian-hating cannot be seriously considered for office at any level of our government.

D'Amato and Pataki both ran as conservatives their first time out (I even heard D'Amato speak at the East Side Conservative Club). Both were elected. This woman will get no traction in the primary. Indeed, if you want a Democrat then vote for a Democrat.

Great! Two liberals running against each other in New York and still no conservative in sight. Hillary is a cinch to win in November.
