If heaven and hell ever played a game against each other, hell would win... they have all the umpires.

I'm not a baseball fan, and have never even bothered to go to a pro game.
Still, I liked this article. Even I was able to get a little sliver of the joy and excitement our national sport brings so many.
Thanks for posting it.

Great player. He had his personal demons that showed up after he retired, but what he did on the field was just incredible.
To: Rakkasan1
They announced on the radio this morning that Puckett is one of the youngest members of the Hall of Fame at the time of his death (Lou Gehrig was only 37).
To: Rakkasan1
Too young. It was tough news when he had to retire so early.Great athlete, and a great person. There aren't enough players around with Kirby's integrity.

Puckett was also active in the baseball players union, reports say.
Now, without Puckett, Gary, we have a union gap!

Watching someone make a spectacular catch or hitting a home run is one of the joys of watching professional baseball that cannot be beaten.
It's the individual who achieves something amazing that is to be savored.

Watching someone make a spectacular catch or hitting a home run is one of the joys of watching professional baseball that cannot be beaten. Indeed. I just can't tolerate the hours of watching paint dry between the exciting bits.
