email from Planned Parenthood...yes, the sky is falling

Is Virginia the Next South Dakota?

Dear xxxxxx,

Can you believe it? South Dakota Governor Mike Rounds (R) has just signed into law a ban that criminalizes abortion in the state of South Dakota! Americans across the nation are outraged by this severe attack on women's health and safety. So let's do something about it.

Write Governor Rounds a personal note to let him know EXACTLY how you feel about this dangerous abortion ban. We'll even send a copy of your message to your governor to help make sure Virginia doesn't become the next South Dakota.

Make no mistake — this ban is part of a larger plan by hardline extremists to eliminate the right to abortion in the United States. Governor Rounds attended the National Governors Association conference in Washington, DC, last week where he undoubtedly encouraged other governors to follow his lead. We cannot allow this trend to sweep the nation. Planned Parenthood will use all legal options available to prevent this law from taking effect, but we need you to do your part too.

Tell Governor Rounds and your governor that Americans do not support any bans on the right to choose.

And once you've taken action, please be sure to check out our We Stand with South Dakota Women page on our website where we'll anonymously post some of your messages and suggest other ways for you to speak out.

Keep fighting the good fight,

Cecile Richards President Planned Parenthood Federation of America

Good idea. We should all write Gov. Rounds a note and let him know what we think.

No need....VA Gov. Tim Kaine is solidly in the pocket of Planned Parenthood.

Thank you God.
Now if we could get the rest of the states to follow suit, this would be a miracle. The "baby killers" would be talking about this for years to come.
Hallelujah

Virginia couldn't hardly be the next S.D. since this year's General Assembly session is already past the point where new bills can be introduced. And the Virginia Senate would never pass this a bill that doesn't have other exceptions, such as rape and incest. And the governor would never sign it.

It will be even more interesting to see how this plays out at the ballot box.

I suspect PP doesn't have nearly as many voters on their side as they claim.

"Seems Planned Parenthood has a firm grasp on the obvious."

Just your standard hysterical fundraising effort. Unfortunately you can find similar samples everywhere. Jerry Falwell was a master. The NRA practically invented it. Environmental groups. CW battlefield preservation groups. And, of course, both major political parties. Any time something happens that they can turn into a sky-falling event, they do it. And they do it because it works. People of all ideologies fall for it time and time again.

Dear Gov. Rounds: Thank you for having the courage to stand up for life. While we know this will be challenged in court for years to come, you have shown the moral fortitude to stand on the side of right and justice in protecting the unborn. Well done, sir!

May God bless and keep you and yours.

Sincerely,

(texgal)

Funny, I always thought that murdering babies was the dangerous part...not letting them live!

No, they are right this time. The Pro-Life movement has the momentum here. The case will illustrate that abortion should, as originally recognized, be the purvue of the state not the Federal Courts. As such there will ultimately be 50 different abortion laws. Based on the current Supreme Court I find it hard to believe that they will insist that abortion is a Federal Law, given that no Federal Legislature ever voted on it. Kind of cheeky for a court to make up a law and then tell legislatures they can't offer legislation regarding the action under law. I hope that finally we can break this ridiculous circus. The down side of clarity here with respect to state control over abortion is that it will ultimately free the Democratic party to reform and become competitive. The upside is that it will save lives.

Tell you what, let's have a Constitutional referendum on it.

My left leaning 'independant' (yeah right) friends talked about this last week. Said that all the lies that Roberts and Alito told the Senators will come to light because of this.

They were drooling, literally, as they spoke.
