Ford Losing Ground in TN
Rasmussen Poll ^ | 3-6-06

Posted on 03/06/2006 10:00:44 PM PST by davidlee

I knew my neighbors 30 miles to the north would come to their senses and turn on that bum. I've always thought that Ford is unelectable in a statewide election in TN.

March 6, 2006--In the race to fill the Senate seat now held by departing Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R), support for Republican nominees is improving as support for Representative Harold Ford, the likely Democratic nominee, weakens.

Of the Republican candidates, Representative Ed Bryant fares best against Ford, leading 45% to 36%. In January, the Rasmussen Reports Tennessee election poll showed Bryant leading 42% to 40%.

Representative Van Hilleary leads Ford 43% to 35%. Support for Hilleary is unchanged since January, but Ford was then at 37%.

Chattanooga Mayor Bob Corker leads Ford 39% to 35%. Support for both Corker and Ford has declined since January. With both men below 40% and a quarter of the voters undecided, it's hard to say either candidate is ahead in this match-up.

Respondents unaffiliated with either major party favor the Republican candidates by roughly two-to-one margins. But moderates prefer Ford over the Republicans by about the same large margins.

Ford is viewed favorably by 47%, about the same as shown by our last poll. Bryant is viewed favorably by 44%, a slight decline. Corker is viewed favorably by 38%, a six-point decline. The number of voters who view Hilleary favorably is unchanged at 51%.

Ford enjoys the second-highest favorable rating of the four candidates in our poll. But he also has the highest unfavorable rating.

Ah, but the truth is in the votes he cast, 6-10 pts to the right of nancy pelosi and teddy kennedy. That my friend makes him as LIBERAL as they are. He talks in circles, says nothing and does dumb things like urge parole for convicted killers. No JUNIOR is not a moderate, just a soft spoken con-artist who is aided and abetted by the MSM who thinks he does no wrong.

Here's more stats on JUNIOR to add to your collection. And don't forget that the NRA gives him a F.

If the pubbies in TN were smart, They'd buy billboards all over Middle and east TN with John Ford's face on them, saying "Ford for Senate".

Yep, that would do it.

Harold Ford comes off as a moderate because it comes with the territory. He's from an area of TN that is largely right-of-center by nature.

Remember Al Gore who favorfed right to life and opposed gun control until he got to DC and saw how useful it was to change his positions on those two issues. Ford's support of the WOT will last as long as he thinks he needs to mainatin it to become senator, and no longer.

Ford Jr. does a good job of appearing centrist on television before a national audience, but don't be fooled-- if you look at his voting record he is no centrist.

Thank you for pointing out the obvious. Ford is nothing but a snake oil salesman on TV because he talks more moderate then the rest of the Dims that appear but he is no centrist when crunch time comes. He has been voting on some issues more centrist recently because he wanted to run for Senate. If he gets elected for six years, he will swing way left with Hillary and anyone can take that to the bank.

Amazing to me how fooled some folks are by a few buzz words on TV. There is only one Democrat Senator who has consistently been there for Republicans and that is Ben Nelson from NE. Still have yet to figure out why he is a Dem. We should swap him and Hagle and it would make more sense.

Ford is a wolf in sheep's clothing and so glad to see his numbers fall. As they say, the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree! :)

I wish I knew how to post one of the pictures that morph. I'd morph Bill Clinton into Harold and visa versa. They're cut from the same cloth.

I saw your post in the state message board. To those of us who live in Tennessee we know the Fords. To those outside the state who hear Harold Ford Jr he may appear to them to be a conservative Dem. Nice to see Bryant and Hilleary leading Corker also :>} Hopefully it will either be Bryant or Hilleary the senate doesn't need any more RINO's.

And remember, Ford was pivotal in defending Clinton in impeachment and in some reports is the one that brokered the deal with the Senate that allowed the perp in chief to walk.

He is also one of the family members who "resides" at the funeral home in order to vote for Uncle John and Ophelia.

He says one thing in the white portions of town and behaves quite differently in Washington, DC or in the city limits.

Too many seem to be buying into the media's portrayal of him as a "moderate." He is not. He is positioning as Hillary is to try to appeal to more voters.

If you do not live in Tennessee, you have no clue as to the crookedness of the Ford's. God help this country if Jr. should win this Senate seat.

Harold Ford comes from an almost totally Democrat area.

Unless you live here, you better get your facts straight.

Jr. inherited his congressional spot, and has never had to run a real race before.

He came on the radio today, and lied saying that he was beating all of the Republicans in the poll. Just not true.

"Harold Ford is to the right of 98% of the Democrats and 35% of the Republicans"

Memphis politics resembles the old Haiti system where Papa Doc Duvalier was president for as long as he wanted, then Baby Doc took over. Both were as corrupt and crooked as serpents. In Memphis, Harold Ford Sr. filled the Congressional seat until handing it off to Jr. Junior talks moderate, votes left, and carries the corrupt gene if he is truly a member of the Ford family (instead of a love child of Bill Clinton).
