It happens to the best of women. Here's Rosalind Wiseman, who has spent her entire working life teaching girls to treat each other decently. The script for the movie Mean Girls was based on her 2002 best-selling Queen Bees & Wannabes, a book that helps parents understand the drama and danger in the adolescent girl world. She knows the minefields that lie in gossip, jealousy, disloyalty and cruel judgments, and offers solid prescriptions for changing bad behaviour.
Yet despite her experience, she recently found herself sizing up two mothers who came to see her.
In her view, the women paid too much attention to their appearance, especially their hair. They seemed catty in their conversation, were micromanaging their kids' lives, and were silly.
"All these things came into my head. Why? They are antithetical to what I teach and believe," Wiseman says. "I was still judging these women."
Where does this nastiness come from?
Wiseman thinks it exists because it's supposed to exist. Being nasty to each other is one of the unspoken rules about how girls and women are supposed to behave; one of the rigidly enforced North American standards of what constitutes femininity.
"It's everything you know but haven't been sat down and taught," as Wiseman puts it.
When she judged the two women so harshly, it was as if she was acting out one of the observations she made in her book that girls and women can be their own worst enemies.

feinswinesuksass has already confirmed the American women suck comment.
She's on a roll, too.
My fav:
How can I miss you if you don't go away?
I want to learn from JR Carrington. :-)
I know, I almost typed the same thing.
Funny thing about guys who only pusue foreign women is that several of them that I know have ended up in miserable marriages with these women who tricked them with their psuedo-submissive act. Priceless.
One guy married a a Thai women who brought all of her extended family to move into his house. He was hating life very soon. The other married a Philipino woman who soon had her family working at his shop & took over the business. She was clever & even had this guy convinced she gave up medical school for him (she couldn't even spell medical). The first time I met her, she asked if I was married to my man....I told her no, we aren't ready yet....her advice to me was "just get the ring". She actually said this in front of her husband. I hated her immediately. I know she is just waiting for her husband to die.
You apparently did learn, well. LOL!
We have introspection and we for sure are accountable to our standards....
That's why we aren't pursuing you :)
LOL! The Southern Belle Put Down. Dang, I love it.
bump
I agree with you, but it's my sense that women dress...and diet...for other women, not for men.
What do you hope to accomplish with that kind of provocative post? Other than to offend all American woman.
I agree that foreign women can be highly desirable to men who are looking for a traditional relationship. But what is the purpose in insulting all American women, other than to reveal your contempt for them. Do you feel better now?
LOL! Can I borrow your brain for a few days?
True to a large degree.
FYI... - Remember I told you there were honest to goodness women haters on here - let me introduce you to "handk" -- read his post #234.
LOL. Got me one of them, too. I worshipped my father in law, we got along great, and finally got to the point where I ceased giving a damn what my mother in law thought of me. When we go to his family's things, I do the perfunctory sit with the women for the least amount of time possible and then hang with my brother in laws and nephews. Guys either like you or they don't. There is no silly middle ground of pretending to like you one minute and then stabbing you in the back the next.
I have read that women dress for women...
Sometimes I do, and sometimes I dress for men.
Handk,
Please post picture of yourself in a thong.
Signed,
FReeperettes
Do you really want him to do that?
*shudder*
Why was I pinged to this? Did you think I wanted to see that?
;-)
ROTFL!
