1998 - Naoumov, N. detected TTV-DDN in 18 (25 %) of the 72 patients with
chronic liver disease. The majority of TTV-positive cases had no biochemical
or histological evidence of significant liver damage. TTV-DNA sequencing of
nine isolates showed the same genotypic groups as in Japan: three patients
were infected with genotype 1, which showed 4 % nucleotide divergence, and
six patients were infected with genotype 2 with 15-27% divergence. Naoumov
suggests that TTV, similar to HGV, may be an example of a human virus with

blood is generally not destroyed past its due date. It's a little known fact that expired blood collected by the Red Cross usually gets sold to manufacturers to be made into derivatives such as albumin and IVIG, to name a few blood products.

Other countries are just catching up. Besides, I believe that the lawyers for the victims have found paper evidence linking the Arkansas prison blood to manufactured blood products used in the UK. this is news as their government has denied the link

This is the first I've heard that there is documented evidence linking the Arkansas prison plasma to infected batches sold to the UK. I wonder if this was at the same time that Health Management Associates sold tainted blood to Canada, despite knowing that a donor had tested positively for Hep-B (at the time, a known risk factor for AIDS).
